It is such a beautiful morning in New York, I was getting ready to leave my dorm with my best friend Madeline. Madeline is a small thing, the total opposite of me, as to where I am full of tattoos and piercings she's totally blank, with the exception of her small purple and pink butterfly tattoo on her wrist and small, studded nose piercing which I talked her into getting. She has beautiful long blonde hair that cascades down her back. These piercing blue eyes that make you want to share your deepest darkest secrets, She's kind and smart. Nothing like me but I got stuck with her at the age of five. "Vi hurry up you're gonna be late" she yells to me from the door as I hurriedly put on my shoes. "Shit! I'm coming" I yell back grabbing my bag and racing towards her and out the door. We walk down the long corridors of our dorms and three floors down in the elevator to reach the doors leading to outside. "Hey, are we still going to that party tonight?" Madeline suddenly questions me before elbowing me, causing me to look in her direction before she adds "Carter's gonna be there" Carter, the man I haven't been able to stop thinking about since senior year of high school. I reply by rolling my eyes. "It's never going to happen Mads, stop pushing it" I laugh out loud, but she and I both know that more than anything it's happening, and I want it that way, I just don't need her in my business. Madeline bumps into me and before I was able to make an unnecessary scene about it, there's a smacking noise and I hear Madeline's soft-spoken voice laugh out "really Miles?" I look over at our best friend Miles, he has a nice head of brown curly hair that goes to his neck that is always unkempt like he just woke up, he's got these brown puppy dog eyes that can make you feel guilty for everything, and these heavy bags under his eyes that make him look like he hasn't slept for months. He's very kind and a great guy. Madeline and I met him when he and I were seven, Madeline's a year older than us. He has clear feelings for Madeline, but I'll never say anything because I know she's interested in another man. "Hey Mi, next time you want to walk with us, don't cause this Clutz to slam into me?" I comment with an annoyed expression across my face, throwing my hands up in a gesture towards Madeline. A few minutes pass by of our daily walk-to-class conversations. When we arrived at my class we disbanded.
I walked into my cosmetics class and took my normal seat at the back of the class next to a girl named Sabrina. "Hey Violet, I was thinking you could be my model for today's assignment?" she mutters as I take my seat next to her, before responding to the question I take a look at the board to read the assignment "Pick a partner to do a creative look on ". I mean I won't lie Sabrina is very talented, but she's very pink and bubbly, I'm very much not. "Uhm Violet?" she questions bringing her face into my view with a big smile across her overfilled red lips. "Yeah, I guess so. But put pink anywhere on my face and I'll snap that dainty little wrist of yours." I snapped back. Two hours pass by, by the time she's done painting my face, I look in the mirror to see an impressive black and white butterfly liner with purple blush. "This is actually really dope, Sabrina, thank you" I compliment her work with a sincere smile, she thanks me as our professor comes around critiquing everyone's work.
I grab my bag and head out of the class, meeting Miles, Spencer, and one of Spencer's friends Kyle in the hall. "Hey Violet, are you and Maddi coming to this party tonight?" Spencer questions in that sweet little innocent voice of his, Spencer is one of those men you can talk into doing absolutely anything, he's kind and soft spoken. Wears these really nerdy round glasses, that emphasizes his kind, teal eyes, you know the ones you see on the random nerd in every classic horror film. He's got this really beautiful short curly brown hair, that's somehow perfectly styled at all times. "What's it to you Spence?" I taunt him with a playful smirk on my lips, as we walk down the stairs to meet Madeline at her class. "Hey Spencer, I'll see you at the party, I have to head to the chess club" Kyle whispers to Spencer in a volume barely able to be heard. Spencer gives him a simple nod and with that Kyle turns left. "Come on Rae, don't tease him like that." Miles elbowed me softly, giving me a bright toothy smile. my smirk dropped at the sound of the name he called me, "Miles, I don't know how many times I need to ask you not to call me that" I snapped, elbowing him hard in the side before speeding up in front of them. It doesn't take long for them to catch back up to me being they are extremely tall, but neither of them say a word.
