It had been a month since Jake had asked me to be his girlfriend and I couldn't be happier. I actually had friends for the first time since I was 6!
Out of all Jake's friends I was closest with Luke. He was the teams star line backer. He had become like a brother to me.
Today was Saturday and we were all sitting out on the football field. There was me, the football team and their girlfriends and the cheer team and their boyfriends. I noticed Amber was alone off to the side glaring at me as I sat between Jake's legs with his arms wrapped around my waist.
What were we all doing at school on a Saturday? Well there was a big game next weekend and a massive pep rally was going to take place the day before so the football and cheerleading team was making a little video to show at the rally.
The only problem was that each guy on the team was paired with a cheerleader and at the beginning of the video the girls give all the guys "good luck" kisses and at the end they kiss again because they won the "game". I was ok with the idea until I found out who Jake got paired with.
"Alright pair up and we can start filming!" Coach yelled.
I tensed up and Jake smiled at me.
"Relax babe. It's all fake. I told you I don't care about her anymore I love you and only you."
I grinned and nodded.
"Okay, love you to."
"That's my girl."
I laughed and Jake kissed me before heading out to the field.
I watched as the guys all grabbed their girls and kissed them. My chest tightened and I had to remind myself it was all for the cameras.
After the kiss the boys ran out onto the field and got into position. We got the team from the highschool across town to help us film by playing the other team and they were in position ready to go.
They played a 5 minute game just so they could film enough footage for the video then they staged some touch downs and even a few tackles before they showed the scoreboard that was set up to say that our team had won by 30 points. The guys on our team freaked out like they usually do when we win while the "other team" pretended to be all bummed and pissed off.
"Alright good job boys take a break while we film the cheerleaders then we'll do the final shot." Coach instructed.
The guys nodded and Jake came over and kissed me.
"That was awsome baby!" I chirpped as I leaned into his side.
"Thanks."
The guys talked for a while until the coach called them to do the final scene. The guys all started cheering and attacking eachother in victory as the girls ran out onto the field. The guys all caught them and spun them around before setting them back on their feet and kissing them again. I felt my heart drop when Jake tightly held Amber close to him by her hips and she wrapped her arms around his neck tangling her fingers in his hair.
"Aaaand cut! That's a wrap guys." The vidographer said as he stopped recording.
They all stopped kissing and I ran over to Jake and wrapped my arms around his waist.
He must have been able to tell what I was thinking cuz he made me look up at him.
"Hey, only you remember?"
I smiled and nodded.
He shook his head at me and kissed me to prove he was telling the truth.
I heard Amber huff as I tangled my fingers in Jake's hair pulling him closer. When we finally pulled away she was gone.
"Come on let's go."
I nodded and jumped on Jake's back. He laughed and ran to the locker room to get his stuff.

"So has he asked you yet?" Luke asked as he sat next to me.
"Has who asked me what?"
"Jake! Has he asked you to Prom yet?"
I had completely forgotten about prom!
"No. To be honest I forgot all about it!"
Luke laughed and rolled his eyes.
Suddenly I started to feel a little sad. Prom was in 3 days and Jake still hadn't asked me to go with him. Maybe he forgot? No. The football team had an awards ceremony during prom there's no way he'd forget about that.
Why hadn't he asked me yet?
"He'll ask don't worry."
I looked up and nodded. Luke smiled as the bell rang and we headed for class.

After school I met Jake by his car like always.
He kissed me and grabbed my hand.
"Hey baby. Come on I've got a surprise for you."
I grinned and nodded.
We hopped into his car and drove to the beach.
He dragged me up onto one of the massive cliffs that over looked the whole beach and told me to close my eyes. The first thing that popped into my head was "holy fuck he's gonna lead me off the edge and I'm gonna fall and die." then I cursed myself for even thinking that. Jake loved me he wouldn't try to kill me.
Jake stopped me and I felt his arms snake around my waist from behind as he rested his chin on my shoulder and kissed my neck.
"Ok open."
I opened my eyes and felt tears start to burn them. Written in massive letters in the sand below was one word.
'Prom?'
I turned in his arms as a few stray tears slid down my face.
"So?" He asked looking nervouse.
"Of course I'll go with you!" I laughed as he picked me up and kissed me as he spun me around.
"Sorry I waited so long. I just couldn't think of the perfect way to ask."
I smiled and kissed him again.
"I love you."
He grinned and hugged me.
"I love you to babe."
