Aemma watched the raindrops roll slowly down the glass, listening to the gentle taps of the water hitting the window and the soft brush of the rain on the grass outside. The scene outside the window was blurred by the lines of water, but it didn't matter, she had the image ingrained in her mind from all the afternoons spent staring out the same window.

The soft grass on the ground, since it was autumn was an ugly shade of brownish gray. The cloud filled sky softly merged with the fog, that shrouded the oak tree that she knew so well. She heard a gentle gust of wind shake the few remaining leaves from the bare branches, leaving them naked and exposed.

It had been a couple of days since her family had departed for Dragonstone leaving her all alone much to her dismay. Joss and Ser Garrick remained with the Princess, at least there were two people in the castle Aemma could trust.

The bruises on her neck have just began to turn the slightest shade of green and was no longer swollen. The bruises also began to fade a tiny bit around the edges, but I would still take a while before they fully disappeared. Although it still hurt, it was much more tolerable now and Aemma was able to eat and talk without wincing in pain.

She thanked the gods for the terrible weather outside lately, that way nobody ever questioned her choice in clothing. The Queen, being modest herself, even commented on the Princess's choice of clothing in her mothers absence. A silent knock on her door tore her away from her thoughts.

"Come in." she says.

The door opens and in comes a shy Helaena. Her hair was in a braided crown as it always is, and she wore a beautiful light blue gown. A smile crept onto Aemma's face. "Helaena!" She chirps.

"Aemma, I was wondering if you would like to spend some time with the twins and I today." Helaena speaks up.

"I would like nothing more, dear aunt." Aemma jumps up and makes her way to her friend.

"Please don't call me that, it makes me sound old." She jests, letting out a giggle in the end.

Aemma links her arm with Helaena's and the two girls begin to walk around the castle. On a normal day they would head to the gardens, but since it was raining, they would have to find some place else to spend the afternoon.

The bond between the two Princess's was always one that nobody understood. Helaena was always one to inch away from human contact, but with Aemma she never inched away. It frustrated her mother deeply knowing that she prefered her niece over her own mother.

The two Princess's decided to head to the nursery where Helaena's twins where at. As Aemma stepped inside she was immediately struck by the opulence of the room. The walls were adorned with intricate tapestries depicting scenes from the kingdom's history, and the ceiling painted with delicate, swirling patterns in gold leaf.

Directly in front of them, on the farthest wall of the room, right in the center was the twin's bed draped in sumptuous silk and lace. The bedding was embroidered with the royal crest and plush pillows and blankets were arranged with care. Nearby, a rocking chair is positioned for the comfort of the Princess, with a nearby table holding a silver tray with a carafe of water and a vase of fresh flowers.

The walls are lined with shelves holding a collection of finely crafted toys and books, each one chosen with care for the royal children's development and amusement. The room is filled with with natural light from large windows, affording a view of the Red Keep's gardens below. The windows are draped in delicate silk curtains.

Directly in the center of the room, a plush rug in a light shade of blue covers the floor. Sitting on the rug were the twins and the chamber maid. They were too distracted with whatever toy laid in front of them that they didn't even notice the door opening and closing. "Princess." it was the maid who finally greeted causing the twin's heads to snap in their mother's direction.
