As the door opened, a small brunette around 5'2 appeared.
She played with the hem of her skirt uneasily, and stared blankly at me.
"Ah, yes Mrs. Maggie. How nice if you to join us... Come sit ."
The headmistress turned to me and continued.
"Jessica this is Taylor Maggie, your new roommate. She will also be showing you around the school as well."
Then the headmistress took a small sheet of paper from her desk and outstretched her hand.
"This is your schedule.
As you can see you have all the same classes.
We figured that if you two were to share the same classes, the both of you will become very close friends."
Headmistress Rochelle looked at her watch.
"Oh My, er, you two better get started!" she said hurriedly as she pushed us out the door.
I glanced at the girl as she held out her hand.
" Hi. Im taylor, but my friends just call me maggie."
I grasped her hand firmly and shook it.
I laughed.
"Is there a reason people call you maggie?"
Turning a corner, she smiled and disappeared.
I quickly followed.
As I turned the corner I ended up back at the entrance of the school with maggie no where in sight.
I scanned the corridor in shock but maggie still wasn't to be found.
Suddenly I heard a small giggle coming from the entrance as she emerged.
Maggie walked towards me as if her thoughts were still lingering on a previous conversation.
She tucked back a small portion of hair that had cascaded down the side of her face and escaped her perfectly uniform curls.
"Sorry." she looked up at me with a huge grin plastered on her face.
"Another classmate needed my attention."
I nodded, not questioning why she came from the way she did.
We started walking back the way we came to continue the tour.
Maggie walked with the elegance of a swan, her stride smooth and wide, however every so often there was somewhat of a falter in her steps.
Just as soon as it was apparent she would start up again, as if she were cautiously searching for something.
She twisted her body in a slight angle so she was able to read my expression.
"There are thirty-six verified subjects available to the students here at Ravelwood."
She spoke in a tedious manner laced with authority.
"Among those, there are 8 required courses that are unique to every individual. They must be completed each semester."
We came to halt and Maggie turned to face me.
"Before it gets too late, we should probably head to your room so you can get settled.
Then we can hit one of the dining halls before curfew hour."
I straightened my attire and chuckled.
"Just how many dining halls are there?"
Maggie examined her nails with obvious disinterest.
"There are seven including staff quarters."
I looked at her in utter disbelief shock written across the entirety of my face.
This school was larger than I had envisioned...
