part 2- settling in

I've been at Arsenal for about 3 weeks now, and it's been a big change from playing at Everton. The team is more competitive and are playing at higher levels than i ever thought they would be, but Jonas is ensuring me that i'm playing extremely well. I'm set to make my debut against Man City today, which I am thrilled about. "Congrats G, excited to start?" Katie asked after Jonas announced the line up, "Bit nervous u feel me but excited to be playing with the team" i responded. Todays match was at home so that meant the stadium will be full of arsenal supporters. As we head into the dressing room after our warm up i feel eyes on me, i quickly glance around the room and make eye contact with Leah. She was starting so deep it felt like she was in my soul, i quickly broke the eye contact when beth interrupted. "I can feel the tension from over here," Beth whispered to me. I roll my eyes and laugh at Beth's comment, quickly glancing back at leah who is adjusting her captains arm band. Jonas tells us it's time to head out, i feel my nerves returning but i'm mostly filled with excitement. The game ended 3-2 to Arsenal with me, Viv Miedema and Leah scoring and Chloe Kelly scoring both city goals. "Can we all give Gracie and big congratulations on her first debut and first GOAL for Arsenal!!" Jonas announced after the match. Everyone cheered except leah who gave a slight clap and a small smile towards me, which felt rude considering she is the captain.

As it was my first debut, me and some of the girls decided to go and celebrate. "So who is actually coming tonight beth," i asked as beth finished getting ready, "erm i'm pretty sure it's me, you, viv, katie, lia, caitlin, lotte, gio, laura and leah." "sounds good," i replied questioning in my head why leah was coming. Just as we finished getting ready our taxi had just pulled up outside, i signal to beth that it's time to go and we hop into the taxi. As we pull up to the bar, we see viv waiting to show us in, "Hi Viv!" i exclaim, "hey G, hurry up you two lefts go get a drink!" Beth pulls me straight up to the bar and orders a drink. We both get a double vodka lemonade and then head over to join the rest of the group. "WOW Gracie you look amazing!" Gio whispered lightly in my ear as i sat in the spare chair next to her. This sent a shiver down my spine which caused me to tilt my head back a tiny bit. "Thanks Gio, you look great yourself" i replied whilst staring into her dark brown eyes. Our stare lasted a bit longer than it should for just friends which made a few of the girls glance at us and give out a slight giggle.
As the night went on, my conversations with Gio flowed extremely well and lead to us even going up onto the dance floor. After we danced for what felt like forever we headed back to our table, everyone showed us all the videos they took of us which made me laugh as it showed how drunk i was. Leah was sat at the end of the table, she didn't join the conversation when me and Gio returned she just returned to her phone and often glanced over at me with an annoyed look on her face. As leah announced she was going to the bar, i decided to follow her; i needed to ask her what her problem is with me, "following me now are we Roode?" she questioned me, "was just gonna grab a drink, or do i have to run that by the captain now?" She seemed a little surprised by my response as she turned back to her phone and didn't reply. I ordered my drink and as i headed back to my seat, leah grabbed my arm and said with a smirk "have fun with Gio." I gave her a confused look and continued back to the table. Why would she say that, we're not friends i thought to myself. Gio could sense something was wrong so she asked me to go to the toilet with her. "You okay?" Gio asked whilst putting her arm round me, "yeah, think i'm just a bit drunk," i replied with a slight chuckle, before asking her to come to the toilets with me. The toilets were very small, so when Gio left the cubicle, she was stood right behind me, with us both looking at the mirror directly in front of us. "You know i haven't known you that long but it feels like i've known u for months" Gio said whilst still stood behind me. I could feel her breath on the back of my neck which sent another shiver down my back. "You look really pretty tonight Gio" i said quietly so only she would hear the words. Gio locked eyes with me in the mirror and a small smile begin to form on my face. She lightly grabbed my chin so that she could turn my face to hers, leaving us centimetres away from each other. "You really think so?" Gio replied with a smirk on her face. Before i could answer, i felt Gio's soft lips brush against mine and i could feel her hand against my cheek. I turned my body so i was facing her and our lips began to find a rhythm, her hands found their way around my waist which made me let out a slight moan, this only made Gio lean deeper into the kiss. Suddenly the door swung open, which made me pull away from our kiss, i was stunned to see Leah Williamson stood at the door with a stunned look on her face. "erm.. so sorry, i will leave. Sorry" before leah could say anything else i replied "omg no don't worry, we were just leaving, so sorry." As me and Gio grabbed our stuff, we squeezed past leah who put her cold hand on my back. This caused my head to swing round towards her and shoot her a confused glance, she didn't notice my glance as the door had already closed. Me and Gio headed back to the table and we had some suspicious looks from the team but no one really said anything about how long we were gone. I decided to make a post on instagram about my night out and to announce that i'm settling in at Arsenal.
