Greetings and Welcome! There are a few pieces of information to note before moving into the story and intro chapter. This welcome section will detail important world-building pieces that need to be explained. This story is not SSB canon compliant and is almost written like an AU in some ways.

Now onto some of the Multiverse and Logic explanations that will make your reading experience more enjoyable! This information needs to be kept in mind throughout the story as it will be relevant later regardless of direct or indirect referencing in the story.

The OCs and Self-Inserts serve to completely replace Mii Fighters in this story; these characters may or may not follow SSB logic character rules. This is mainly because there's no way to have the characters fit this logic properly without breaking the characters or the pre-existing logic. That said, some parts of Canon are to be tossed out the window for this reason alone.

This story will take place mainly in a Hub Realm known as The Smash Mansion (and the surrounding area.) The Smash Mansion area is located in a massive Hub Realm, connected to many more games than just the Known associated Nintendo games. This is because the Smash Mansion is a specialized hub world used for entertaining the masses.

For an explanation, a Hub Realm is a safe dimension that connects video game worlds through an unknown form of magic. In the story, these characters are not just video game characters. Their worlds in this canon are not video games. Knowledge of the 'multiverse' is well known and is enjoyed by people quite a lot.

As a result of these Hub Realms, Video game characters can hang out, interact, socialize, and even live in these realms. For further context, think of Wreck it Ralph's hub areas, but without the drawbacks of dying outside their games, and there is much less worry about "game hopping." Some things need to be kept in mind when visiting unfamiliar dimensions, especially if the travel is not done through the connecting Hub Realms it makes it much harder to be sent back to safe areas otherwise.

Realm Travel is like traveling through different worlds in a video game. There will always be safe respawn points characters can be sent back to if needed. This is a universal standard, and everyone can trust that it'll be there to trust and fall back on no matter what.

With all this out of the way, I sincerely hope you enjoy reading New Home: A Smash Bros. Story.
