Oh, merciful God, hear my plea,
For love that's lost and cannot be
My heart is heavy with sorrow and pain
Loneliness and heartache are all that remain.
I pray for strength to carry on
For faith to believe that love will dawn
But tears keep falling like rain from above
And I'm left with this saddest prayer for love.
I ask for guidance and understanding
To help me cope with this heartbreaking ending...
And though I know that time will heal
The wounds of love that I now feel.
I can't help but grieve for what was lost
For the love that was not even mine at any cost.
So please, dear God, comfort my soul
And help me to accept that love's not in my control
Grant me the courage to face each day
And the hope that love will find its way
For though my heart may be broken and torn
I still believe that true love will be reborn.
