Opposites Attract: A High School Love Story

The New Beginning

Samantha Campbell was 17 years old and had just started her senior year at a new school. She has been moving a lot since her parents wanted to chase their dreams. Other than that, she had a little brother named Kevin, who is going to the same school as her but as an 8th grader. 

On the same morning, she woke up and get dressed for school. As she walked downstairs, her brother was also prepared and eating breakfast. 

"Good morning Mom, Dad, and Kev", she said. "Good morning too, dear!" her mother replied. 

"Also, the bus is about to arrive in a bit, so be prepared", her dad said. "Btw, have fun on your guy's first day!". 

[Bus arrived and picked them up] 

Samantha stepped off the bus and took a deep breath. This was it, a new school, a new year, and a new chance to start fresh. She had moved around so much in the past that she was used to being the new girl, but that didn't make it any less nerve-wracking.

 As she walked through the hallways, Samantha felt like a ghost, unnoticed and forgotten. But then she saw Maya, an outgoing and friendly girl who offered to show her around. Maya introduced her to her group of friends, including Tyler, the star quarterback. 

Samantha wasn't impressed by Tyler's cocky attitude and his popularity, but she couldn't deny that he was charming and easy to talk to. They ended up having a class together, and Tyler offered to help her with her homework. 

Maya, who was also in the class, offered to help as well. Samantha found herself drawn to Maya's kindness and energy, and they quickly became friends. As they worked together, Samantha realized that Tyler was more than just a jock. He was passionate about literature and music, and he had dreams of his own.

She found herself drawn to him, even as she tried to keep her distance. Tyler seemed to sense her hesitation and backed off, but Samantha couldn't help but feel that there was something between them, something that she couldn't ignore. 

Later that day, Samantha and Maya were sitting in the school courtyard during lunchtime, enjoying the sunshine and chatting about their favorite TV shows.

"So, have you heard about the school newspaper?" Maya asked, taking a bite of her sandwich.

Samantha shook her head. "No, what about it?"

"Well, they're looking for new writers and photographers," Maya said. "I was thinking about joining. It could be a fun way to get involved in school and maybe even make some new friends."

Samantha hesitated. She had always been interested in writing, but she didn't have any experience. "I don't know," she said. "I'm not sure if I'm good enough."

Maya gave her a reassuring smile. "You won't know until you try," she said. "Plus, Tyler is the editor-in-chief. I'm sure he could give you some pointers."

Samantha felt a flutter in her stomach at the mention of Tyler's name. She had been trying to avoid him, but she couldn't deny that she was intrigued by him. "Maybe you're right," she said. "I'll think about it."

As they finished their lunch, Samantha couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to work on the school newspaper with Tyler. She pushed the thought aside, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was starting to develop between them.
