"mom, minho wasn't at the church today."
his mom rolled her eyes, before putting a small smile on her face and turning around. "try again next week. maybe he's busy."
"next-" jisung's jaw dropped like his mother said something absurd. "mom! are you crazy?!"
his mom sighed, whacking him with a towel. "just go back. ask his parents or something. i can call his mom."
"call her! call her!"
she rubbed her temples before dialling a number. she put it on speaker and glanced at jisung.
"karina? hi! it's been a while!"
"yes, it has. my son has recently made friends with minho. he's wondering where he's gone?"
a hum came from the other line. "he was grounded for a bit, but he is at the church now helping out."
jisung hung up for his mom, grabbing the car keys and sprinting out. karina shook her head, watching jisung through the window.
—
jisung ran at the boy picking the flowers, panting heavily as he stood in front of them. minho was dressed in a fluffy white sweater along with some black slacks, and his familiar frog slippers.
"hey."
minho gulped, stroking his finger along the flower he had in his hand. "hi." jisung crouched next to him, all too of a familiar meeting.
"your mom said you were grounded? what did you do?" jisung chuckled, not noticing how minho completely froze.
"oh, um. i don't know." minho fiddled with his sweater before parting his lips. "i think we should stop seeing each other."
"what? did i do something wrong?"
minho sighed, standing up as he dropped the flower to the ground. "goodbye, jisung."
"what- minho!" the called boy walked off, suddenly being grabbed by the wrist. he hissed in pain, pulling his wrist to his chest.
"you're giving me no explanation? did i do something? just tell me, please!"
minho avoided the stern gaze, desperate for jisung to just let him go. "let it go, jisung. we barely know each other."
"i've had my tongue up your ass. i know you pretty fucking well."
"jisung. stop it." minho gritted his teeth, backing away. he glanced quickly to make sure no one could see them, freezing as he saw his dad.
"min-"
"lee minho. come here right now."
jisung watched minho gulp, and felt the protectiveness wash over him. he grabbed minho again, pulling him away and rushing to his own car.
they heard screaming behind them and minho winced. jisung sat him in the car, quickly getting in the drivers seat and getting out of the church parking lot.
jisung glanced at minho as he drove, seeing the swollen wrist. "your dad do that?" minho pulled his sleeve down, humming slightly.
"did he find out i sucked the life out of your ass?"
minho chuckled. "something like that. said i needed to be cleansed." jisung froze, pulling the car into an empty parking lot and turning to face minho.
"what did he do?"
minho shrugged. "nothing that hasn't happened before. just the drowning in hot and cold water and the burning. it's nothing new."
"minho- that's not normal. you shouldn't just be used to that. oh my god. this is my fault. if i hadn't done anything, this wouldn't have happened."
minho shook his head, not wanting the younger to put the guilt on himself. "jisung, it's not your fault."
"was it because your dad suspected you were seeing a guy?"
minho sighed and jisung groaned, burying his face in his hands. "see! it's my fault, minho! i'm so sorry this happened."
"ji, it's happened before, it's okay."
"it shouldn't just happen, minho! okay. we're just going back to my house and i'm going to clean up any wounds or injuries you have from your joke of a fucking father."
