"Ne ne, Tomioka-san!!" Kanroji yelled running up to the woman. The former stopped walking and turned around to look at the girl now jogging as she neared her colleague.
It was a normal summer day. Sun in the sky, barely any clouds to cover it's blinding light. Had it not been for the slight breeze then Kanroji doubts she would've even been able to step outside today. Luckily she hadn't received any hard tasks nor mission so she liked to think she had the day off.
"Do you need something, Kanroji?" Tomioka asked in her usual soft but quiet voice. It was obvious by now that Giyuu wasn't much of a talker, making her a better listener but even that she didn't do often. This didn't trouble Mitsuri, she was used to starting conversations (unless she were talking to Rengoku, who was a much bigger chatterbox than she was).
"Oh, Hai! I was wondering if you'd like to join me and Rengoku-san to lunch?" She quickly asked, barely letting Tomioka register what was going on with how quick she was talking. Giyuu's eyes widened a bit, her lips parting to say something but nothing came out. After a moment of silence, she gave Kanroji a small smile.
"I suppose I could" She mumbled just slightly above a whisper which Mitsuri wouldn't have heard if she hadn't been listening intently as to what Tomioka could say.
"Eeeeek! That's great, we should get going then, I'm sure Rengoku-san wouldn't mind waiting but it's hard when he's hungry!" She squealed grabbing Tomioka's hand and basically dragging her along to whatever place she agreed to meet up with Kyōjurō.
The so-called restaurant wasn't at all big, but definitely not small. Nevertheless, there weren't that many people inside, probably due to the fact that it was blazing hot outside and people preferred a cooler lunch. And Mitsuri could understand that, not everyone wants to eat hot soup when they could be eating pasta salad for example, or spring rolls. Oo~ Mitsuri was getting hungry just thinking about all that.
"Ne, Kanroji, we've arrived" Tomioka poked at her shoulder, seemingly trying to get Mitsuri's attention for a while now.
The girls found Rengoku as fast as they had walked in. He was at the very back. Kanroji wasn't sure how much longer she could stand in the sun so she quickly grabbed Tomioka's arm and pulled her along, making her sit next to her, in front of Kyōjurō.
"Ah, I was wondering when you'd get here" Rengoku stated as he shifted his attention between the two girls, both sweating messes from the boiling hot weather outside, before opting to stare at Tomioka for a bit between speaking once more. "Glad you agreed to join us, Tomioka!"
"Thank you" she quietly mumbled, though Mitsuri wasn't sure Kyōjurō understood that since he started staring at her nervously.
"Oo~ Sake Daikon, a great option, Tomioka-san!" Mitsuri cheered as her mouth started to water. The thought of food was making her even more hungry. She'd already ordered so now she was waiting for Rengoku and Tomioka. "I've heard that it's your favourite, is that true?" She asked after a while of silence.
Kanroji hasn't known Tomioka for long but she's already managed to notice that the girl prefers gestures rather than mouth-to-mouth conversations. So it didn't particularly shock her when the woman next to her nodded instead of answering with a simple 'yes'.
Mitsuri's order took the longest (unsurprisingly), but once they had finished the trio decided to remain in their seats and talk. Rengoku's eyes stayed on Giyuu the whole time, Mitsuri was confused on why she was feeling jealous. They started off with casual questions, mostly to get to know Tomioka since they were already familiar with each other.
"I hope you don't mind but I have to get going, with the increase in demons near the West I've been having to patrol more often, pleasure talking with the both of you!" Kyōjurō suddenly said after noticing the sun already cowering behind the trees in the horizon.
"I should also be heading off now" Tomioka butted in and Mitsuri couldn't help but feel upset at how quickly time went by.
Suppressing a frown she waved them off and headed for her estate, but not before learning that Tomioka's favourite flowers were roses, ironically.
She was tempted to share her new found information with Rengoku, the one hoping to steal Tomioka's heart.
...
She'll keep this information to herself for now.
