Chapter 17: Death?
That's why he decided to use the deadliest art he knows of. Even after practising for more than 10 years, the didn't even learn a single percent of it - the one and only "Pyro Infernal".
It's a skill that you can't fully master without going beyond your limits or risking death if you use it before mastering it.
The skill was created by powerful beings from an unknown time and passed down from generation to generation.
Jason chose to use it even though he knew all about the skill, just to create a chance for Lily to live. He had only known her for a few days, but he sacrificed his life for her.
Although Jason had people on his planet who loved him, he didn't sacrifice himself because he had no one to care about.
He did it because that's the kind of person he truly is - the path he chose from the day he read his first novel, and he will remain the same even in death.
"So, there are still beings left in this plane whose resolve is greater than everything they care about. Hahaha!" the wolf said, laughing loudly.
Jason didn't reply to the wolf. He took some deep breaths and prepared for the fight, a mysterious aura surrounding him as his blood and sweat evaporated.
Boom! A loud bang reverberated through Jason's body as the skill was activated, although he was only able to use 1% of it.
He felt like his body was going to collapse from the pressure of the power he was generating, but he also knew that he had more than 10 times the power he had before.
He had a maximum of two minutes before he died, so he wasted no time attacking the wolf.
Jason raised his sword and dashed towards the wolf with such speed that any normal person would think he was teleporting. When he was close enough, he slashed at the wolf, who didn't move from his spot and only watched him closely.
As the amount of mana inside his body increased, so did the amount of mana he transferred to his weapons, which increased the flames around them.
Unbeknownst to Jason, when he slashed towards the wolf a few meters away, he timed it perfectly so that when his weapon struck, it hit at the perfect moment.
A sharp red line extended from his sword towards the wolf.
For a moment, the wolf was caught off guard as he didn't expect Jason to do that.
However, he was able to react in time and avoid the attack by a hair's breadth because of his sharp senses honed by hundreds of battles.
After missing the target, the line continued its momentum and crashed into the ground, creating a deep line on the ground, with flames surrounding the impact area.
