Before training starts each of us have to get our gear on and pick our weapons and other stuff to protect us from the reality of Narotnap. Narotnap is a small section beyond the walls that the MSRFB uses to train us. Every creature- or thing shall i say... that is out there is in the training arena. We are trained to prepare for our dexterous year - the year in which we go over the wall. Why? The leader of Pantoran - Celil Toran - believes that if we can wipe out anything and everything that exists over the wall then we can build and extend our Pantoran city and civilize beyond the walls. Re-claiming E-158. To him... it means more power. Narotnap is unmapped - no one has ever made it back to tell us what they saw. To either confirm or deny our fears.
Me and Tatum split off from the boys into the female lockers. The female officer unlocked the door and followed us into the room. Before training, we must wear armor to protect us from anything that may harm us in the arena. The suits were black and skintight - yet they still allowed us to move. The facility aimed for a suit of armor that remained less clunky but could give us the best protection... They say the suits are indestructible - but I don't know. Nobody was ever dumb enough to put their words to the test and figure it out themselves if they were truly honest. I wiggled myself into my second skin like a wolf in sheep's clothing. Ready to serve the people I despise the most, the Toran Government. Yet, this is my duty.
Once me and tatum were dressed and good to go we walked back out to the waiting area before training to choose our weapons and kits. Thorne was busy checking the scopes on the N001 guns - since being a shuttler, Thorne has always picked a gun for training. Never once has he missed a single shot. Yet, I never tell him that in case his ego gets so big he combusts. Tatum was cleaning and sharpening her dual blades - who for a small petite girl with the smile of an angel... she can do some damage with those blades. She continued to do so as she sent me a bright smile before going back to making small talk with beck who was picking out the med supplies. Beck's parents are doctors - so he has a niche for helping those in need of aid and healing the souls of those that surround them. Both him and tatum share that in common two faint hearts filled with the purest love... it is clear why they both take interest in one another - picking any possible moment to be close with one another.
"Lilith, I was wondering if you knew where my pencil went?" Minjun questioned me, as he waved his map in my face. Minjun prefers a director role in our group. As soon as we are within the arena, he begins to map specific things and record certain creatures in his journal. Minjun then researches on his findings to help inform us more about the creatures and chaos of Narotnap. Each time we enter the arena, it is like we enter the underworld of Pantoran. If it wasn't for Minjun we would never be as prepared.
I picked up my katana from the table of weapons. Gazing him up and down before smirking. I moved quickly towards him, pulling the worn pencil from his gun holster and giggling at Minjun. "Funny looking handgun you have got there Min" i laughed out, gripping my aching sides as he shook his head stifling a laugh. He can be so forgetful sometimes despite being the brains of our group.
I pulled the katana from its case, inspecting the blade for any damage or wear. Just like Thorne, since being a shuttler I have refused to use anything other than the katana. It was slick and easy to piece through anything that approached me, keeping them at a distance from me. I shut the katana back in its placeholder while slinging it over my shoulder with one smooth move.
"Come Tatum" Thorne spoke as she approached him. "You need to remember about your shoulder straps..." he ordered as he redid her straps on her armor to make it more safe and secure for her.
"...Up, over and down" they both spoke at the same time. Tatum rolled her eyes. Although Thorne was 10 minutes older than her, he acts as if he was 10 years older. I smiled at them. My heart warms by Thorne caring for Tatum. He puts her first. No matter what.
