Tomorrow arrives, and when you slink out of bed, Yamai has already left your house. You mourn the loss of your items as you get ready and head off to school. You use a longer route that nobody really uses and Tadano, a boy in your class, waves to you. He notices you look upset, so he walks next to you and asks what's wrong
T: What's wrong, Y/N?
He had always seemed like the kind and gentle type. He has these cute, trustful eyes, and he's always nice to Komi, who you noticed also doesn't talk. As much as you wish you could talk to him, you don't. Just looking at him with this melancholy expression.
T: Ah... So you're not the talkative type?
You look at him and shake your head, hoping he understands. He beams at you, smiling brighter than the sun.
T: I have a friend like that! She doesn't talk much either. I can give you a notepad and pen to write what's troubling you if you want?
You nod your head excitedly, happy someone finally understands you.
He fumbles around in his bag before pulling out a notebook and a pen. He beams at you and speaks in a soft whisper.
T: Just don't tell Komi. That's the notebook we use to communicate sometimes, and she might get jealous!
He chuckles to himself. You look at him with a blush creeping onto your cheeks. He's one of the only people that treat you like a human. Maybe even a friend. You start to write in the notebook
Y/N(Notebook): "Could we sit down? It's a long story and I don't write well while walking."
He reads it and sits down on the sidewalk. It is an awkward silence, save for the rushed scribbling of pen on paper as you write down what happened. You finish it up, and hand it to him, hugging your knees to your chest as you look down.
T: Jeez... Yamai is a creep. Why don't you ever tell her to stay away from you? Or just avoid her?
He asks, dumbfounded by the situation. You quickly scribble on the notebook.
Y/N(Notebook): "I'm scared! She already stole my stuff, and she knows where I live!"
He sighs while shaking his head.
T: Yeah... Yamai is kinda scary
He shudders, recalling the time she kidnapped him and threatened to bury his body in the mountains.
After a while of sitting in a type of silence you couldn't quite put your finger on, you got up and sighed. You put your hand out to Tadano.
T: Hey, do you know what time it is?
You nodded your head no, and he pulled out his phone. His face went pale as he looked at the screen.
T: WE'RE LATE!!!!
He suddenly screamed, before taking your hand and bolting.
T: LET'S RUN FAST! MAYBE WE CAN GET THERE BEFORE THE GATE CLOSES!
After running at full speed for a while, you reach the front of the school. The gate isn't closed, so you rush inside. You sneakily rush past open doors and giggle at each other due to the childish acts.
T: We're like spies!
He says in a whisper-shout tone, causing you both to giggle. After reaching your class, you open the door and see everybody staring. But it's not at you. And they're not staring at Tadano either? You look in between the two of you, and you see Tadano looking too.
You never let go of his hand.
He looks at you, waiting for you to let go, but you just look at him embarrassed and dumbfounded.
T: U-uh.. Y/N? Are you gonna... Let go?
You quickly let go and clear your throat, embarrassed as you look at him. He smiles gently at you, but you walk to the seat next to Komi. When he notices he has to sit next to Yamai, he visibly shutters, before sighing and finding his seat.
The teacher clears her throat and continues with the lesson. You notice Yamai giving Tadano a death glare the entire class and apologize in your mind, hoping it'll travel to him somehow.
~Time skip~
As class comes to an end, you notice Yamai pushing Tadano unnecessarily as she storms toward you. She puts on a smile to hide her rage. You notice other people at your desk, asking you why you and Tadano were holding hands.
Y: HII! So, do you mind explaining why you were holding hands with TADANO?!
You hear him yelp as somebody from another class grips him by his collar.
You get up and walk towards the scene, a scary nonchalance about the way your walking. You stand at the scene, unnoticed. Well, until Yamai yells to you.
Y: Hey! You didn't answer my question!!
The random guy looks at you, stuttering as he tries to explain himself.
RG: H-HEY Y/N! I-I was just...
He still grips Tadano as he's talking, so you put a hand on the hand gripping Tadano gently and look up at him. He rips his hands away from Tadano.
RG: S-Sorry! I just h-heard s-some stuff a-and got mad! A-and-
You scribbled a quick note saying you forgive him and that he should leave. He leaves quickly, giggling and skipping off due to the attention you got from him.
T: What a weird dude...
Tadano says while fixing his collar. He can't quite get it to sit right, and so he sighs in defeat. You get a note ready before walking over to him, fixing his collar and his tie for him. You look up at him and notice his blush. A blush creeps onto your cheeks as you notice your proximity. And so does Yamai.
Y: TADANO! GET AWAY FROM Y/N YOU CREEP!!!!!
Everyone in the room starts whispering, but you ignore them and give the note to Tadano. He reads it and smiles at you weakly.
T: Y-yeah.I'm fine..
He looks somewhat upset and nervous about all the people whispering, so you grabbed his sleeve with your index and lead him out of the room.
Y: HEY! YOU CAN'T JUST LEAVE!
You want to shout at her. To scream at her. Why can't she just leave you alone?! Either way, you ignore her.
After a minute or two of walking, Tadano speaks up.
T: Why did you do that?
You don't really know how to respond. Not that you could. Before you could even fully process what he said, someone spoke up.
???: Because she thinks you're pathetic.
