( TIME SKIP; 1 DAY. )
〝Did you know crocodiles can’t stick their tongues out?〞Chad spoke, breaking an awkward silence. He laughed at his own words, hoping the others would, too. To his relief, everyone did—except for Mindy who instead nodded, clearly judging him.
Sibling rivalry. (A.K.A. normal siblings who do love each other even though they may not admit it).
〝I had no idea! But thank you. I could’ve gone my whole life without knowing this.〞 Tara, the shortest spoke. 〝No problem, princess! I gotchu.〞 The guy joked around again, reffering to her. Sam was smiling softly, happy that they were getting along so well despite everything that happened. 〝I know you do.〞 And at that, Mindy officialy wanted to throw up! 〝Get a room, for my sake!〞 Mindy covered her eyes, making a disgusted sound. 〝Blegh.〞
〝No thank you, we’d rather continue being friendly with each other right in front of you.〞 The asthmatic raised her eyebrows slightly, smile remaining carved upon her lips.
Not that she particularly hated what Mindy thought of them as.More than friends.
At that moment, there was only one thing she wanted to say.
A person she wanted to speak of.
Amber had been the first person that came to mind. And Mindy wasn’t dumb. She could read Tara like a book. Maybe Tara herself didn’t know it, but Mindy did.
Sure, she most likely had a crush on Chad. But still, Mindy couldn’t shake the thought that she still was not over Amber completely. Because if she was, she’d be able to be with Chad.〝Mindy?〞 Finally, the oldest one of the group spoke. Sam. All of them had been starting to get worried about her.
〝You okay?〞
Blink blink.
〝Yeah. Just fine.〞 Finally, the girl let herself relax, resting on the chair.
〝Well, uh, I’m done eating,〞 Chad said, taking his plate to the kitchen. There were a lot of boxes there since they weren’t done packing just yet. They were all made of cardboard, but only some were open. The other ones were still with tape on.
It had been their first dinner in New York together. But certainly not their last. Besides it being semi awkward due to what had happened, how Amber and Richie had tried to kill them.
〝Tara! Would you mind helping me a bit over here?!〞 Chad yelled, leaning back as to look through the open doorway, looking at Tara.
So—she looked back at him, letting herself grin. Maybe she had another chance of loving. Maybe it wasn’t all over. She had lost Amber, her first love, but perhaps she could move on...? ‘Yeah’, she told herself. Of course she could. Sure, Amber was the most breathtaking and amazing woman in the entire world—but she was not the world itself. And Tara could most definitely love someone other than her, someone less toxic... Like Chad! Yeah, yeah! (No, no!)
