EVERYONE SEEMED TO BE conversing in the great hall, the fact that it was so early not deterring most from having lively conversations with all their housemates. Though, most of the noise did come from the Gryffindor house, followed closely by the Hufflepuffs.

Everyone was in a good enough mood. The first snowfall of the season arrived, which was a clear indicator that winter break was approaching. 'Yet not soon enough', the girl thought.

Alayah Levine did not hate school. In fact, she loved it. The ravenclaw girl, oddly enough, enjoyed learning new things, especially when she excelled at them. That was the fact with most subjects. Keyword, most.

Levine was at the moment sulking, dreading going to see Professor Sinistra after astronomy class later on. She was told that that the older woman had to inform her about something important, which usually meant something bad.

Though, she was practically jumping for joy knowing that next year she could drop the class. 'Think positively', she told herself. She would have something to do during the nights when she couldn't fall asleep. Which was most nights.

As she was walking to the astronomy tower with her fellow housemates, she was the only one completely wide awake. All the others seemed to be exhausted after a rigorous DADA class not so long ago. Alayah was given strange looks by several of the other Ravenclaws walking close by, some begging for her energy and others believing she was plain weird, which wouldn't be completely wrong.

When they all made it to the class, they were greeted with the sight of a beautiful clear night sky and a very snowy terrain down below. In her opinion, it made the class bearable. That train of thought quickly ended the second Professor Sinistra started talking about a small project in groups of three that would have to be returned two weeks after the break. After listening attentively for about 10 minutes, she blanked.

The problem wasn't that she didn't listen during instructions, lectures and such. Alayah tried to pay attention, even though she wasn't really competitive, she truly worked and strived towards perfect or perfect adjacent grades. Astronomy just seemed to be a frustratingly foreign subject to her, and anything she heard just sounded like jumbled-up nonsense to her. Perhaps she did have an attention problem, but for the moment she enjoyed living in denial.

As she forced herself to zone back in and listen to whatever nonsense Professor Sinistra was spouting, she made a promise to herself to not zone out for at least 15 minutes.

The professor seemed to have finished explaining the project and went on to make the groups.

"For this project, as I said earlier, it will be a group assignment consisting of two members. I will be choosing the groups. To help promote camaraderie between houses, I will be making groups with either one ravenclaw and two hufflepuffs or two ravenclaws and one hufflepuff. Is that clear to you all?"
