{Unscripted: Chapter 6}
I met him in a car crash. No, not God, if that's what you're thinking. I met Evan Pieter in a car accident. Romantic, isn't it? Maybe he would save me and be all Mr. Hero. Uh- no.
Not when he was the reason for the crash.
Not if you're hurtling towards your steering wheel at sufficiently high speeds all the while having your life flash through your eyes.
But, back to the point we left off before all of this happened.
Back to Jake and the Big Phone Call.

"Are you crazy?" I demanded when he hung up. He smiled sideways at me.
"Crazy for you," he said and I rolled my eyes.
"Did you mean that? What you just said?" I asked.
He took a breath.
Here it comes, he's gonna say he was kidding, or lying, or trying to get a rise from me, trying to get into my pants, trying to-
"I meant it," he said and I sucked in air through clenched teeth.
"You did? I mean- you barely know me, Jake," I said and he inched closer and swung his arm around me. I felt tingles run down my spine and my hair stood on end. Oh my gosh, was this for real? Tingles? For Jake? A guy I barely knew?
"Time to get to know then, what you say? Up for it?" he said and I shrugged.
"I don't know, Jake. What's in it for you? You're... I mean, you're...." I trailed off and he raised his eyebrow at me.
I rolled my eyes. "I'm going to regret saying this one day. Well, you're like hot and all that, and you're outgoing and friendly, and really nice and your family owns this huge restaurant chain so I just want to know, you know? What's in it for you? This exchange of ours, getting to know me better?"
Why would you want me, Jake? Why me when you could have literally any girl you'd like.
"I'm just looking for a summer fling and you seem easy," he said and my jaw dropped.
Uhm, what?
"Is that what you wanted me to say? Gosh, Kendall, I don't know what you want me to do here. Its true we've only just met, and we don't really know each other, but I'm trying here. I want to know you, and I kind of like you already but I don't want to say it cause I'm afraid I'll only scare you away. Okay? I'm not sure why you think the world is out to get you but I'll make you realise that not everyone is like that. I know you're too scared to trust anybody, too scared of getting hurt, but I'll be different. Give me a chance here, please?" Jake pleaded and I felt my heart beat in my stomach.
