Chapter 2

I looked around the small apartment, not lavish but big enough to house two people.

But the problem was it had only one room with a single bed. Though the idea of sharing a bed with her hadn't seemed so bad, it would be really awkward.

I had opted for the couch instead, which with a little more pillows and blankets would be comfortable enough to spend a night.

I heard her grumble under her breath in annoyance as she walked inside and into the room while I stared at her retreating figure.

It didn't bother me so much because the feeling of being unwanted had kind of been stuck with my daily routine.

While at the bridge last night, when she had asked me to not mind her presence and continue with whatever I was going to do, my heart had leaped suddenly at the though of jumping down which before seemed quite pleasing.

So instead of logically doing what I came for I opted to stick around her like a leach, just without sucking any of her blood. She had gotten irritated of my lingering presence around.

"Go home kid."

She had pushed me away, shooing me away like a fly but my feet had eventually found it's way back to her. Unable to resist the deep growing feeling, I had ended up asking her to let me stay with her. And surprisingly after offering to do all the house chores and serving her for free, she had let me stay.

I felt happy to say the least. Fact that I could finally leave behind my dough bag of a brother and his abusive parents felt a lot better. And bonus point was, I would be living with such a beautiful woman. Ah! My luck had finally shown.

I rummaged around the kitchen, making us something to eat before cleaning the entire place. I had a habit of it. Daniel's parents always made me do it anyway.

A proud smile married my features as I stared at the spotless apartment. It had been an easy job counting all the days I've been doing this work.

I slightly peaked inside the room, finding her curled up in her bed, tightly hugging the pillow. Her hairs tousled over her face, lips stretched into a pout. She looked way to cute right now for my fragile heart to handle.

I didn't believe in love at first sight. I never did before this. Though I wasn't sure if it really was liking or just merely attraction, but whatever it was I was enjoying it.

I did not have any phone, given Daniel's parents never bought me one. Not like I had expected them to. So I opted for writing instead. I had found a blank page before on the tea table.

Searching around the house for a pen, I sat down on the sofa ready to pour out my last two days into the page.

Writing had always been a hobby of mine. It always amazed me how authors could narrate the most simplest everyday events like a thousand times more minutely.

I began with the staring, how I had woke up to seen the dull sunrise, had beating and scolding from Daniel's parents and then being ragged around by Daniel to being thrown out of the house and meeting her.

Out of all the mess the two days had offered me, she had been the best part.

Though I knew it was completely stupid of me to actually go with some stranger like that, I did not have any other choice. It wasn't like I could sleep on the road with barely appropriate clothing.

And then above bearing the killing cold and nasty people around at night, trusting this beautiful sweet lady had sounded better. Though by the looks of it she was anything but sweet.

After writing to content, I unravelled the banket wrapping by tender body inside it. The blanket provided my body the warmth it needed and the pillows cushioning my body into the couch.

I wriggled around a little to get comfortable, and closed my eyes after I had found the perfect position. Snuggled against the pillows and blanks into the embrace of the night.

Had it been any other day I would be sleeping down on the cold hard floor with nothing but a piece of cloth to cover myself with. So a couch was way better than the cold, hard floor.

The aroma of the delicious breakfast filled the kitchen. I stared proudly at the dining I had done. The breakfast was surely alluring, for I found my stomach grumbling and mouth watering at the sight.

The door to the bedroom opened and out came the sleeping beauty. Her hairs tussled all over similar to a birds nest. Eyes slightly swollen and lips churned into a pout. The fists furiously rubbed her eyes to shake away some sleep.

I stared at her coming out in a complete mess and god did she look overwhelmingly cute. I could literally wake up to this scene every day.

Her steps halted at the sight of me. I could practically see the wheels in her head turn before the realization settled in. She slightly shrugged before walking towards the table.

"You gonna come eat or keep staring at me the whole time?" She mumbled through her full mouth and I stood there wide eyed.

"Uhh.. I can join you at the table?" I asked surprised for this was the first time anyone had asked me to actually share a table with them.

Usually I would have to stand by the table and serve Daniel and his parents and then later eat on the floor by myself. And for whatever while I was sent to school nobody had been kind enough to actually share a table with me. Children either avoided me like the plague or they bullied me.

"Of course duh, that's like the lamest question." She mumbled in a 'obvio' tone, as if it had been the most obvious thing to do.

I sat done infront of her quite hesitantly, before grabbing myself a plate with shaking arms. The juice almost spilling twice with how much my hands had been shaking.

"So why you wanna stay here? You can go stay at your home." I jumped at her voice as she rose an eyebrow at me. God she was going to get me killed someday.

I sighted at her question, sure I had seen it coming but I didn't really know how to answer that or more like I didn't really have confidence in my answer.

"I don't have one." The reply was short and I knew she would ask me further but to my surprise she had nodded before diving back into he breakfast. I stared at her for a minute before I too started eating and damn did hot, freshly made breakfast taste so good.

I never had the privilege to have warm breakfast. I was supposed to eat the left over because I was already being done a favour that they had provided me a roof. The leftover had barely been anything, since Daniel and his parents, who were supposed to be my uncle and aunt, would eat the entire thing away.

Completing the breakfast and putting the dish inside the sink, she walked away into the bedroom. I starred at her retreating figure before shaking my head and focusing back on eating.

I heard the shower run and then after 10 minutes she was out of her room.

A black hoodie paired with blue jeans and white sneakers, her hair tied up in a messy bun which still looked breathtaking on her. Her hands were tucked inside the hoodie as she strolled towards the door. Picking up a black mask from the rack she reached for the door.

"Wait!"

Her hands halted but she didn't turn back. I took in a breath before voice out.

"What is your name?"

"Aesira"

And with that she left. I stared at the closed door mind still processing on her words.

Aesira. Like the warrior.

I had originally planned to make it a very depressing story but then decided against it.
Hope you enjoyed it.
