As you stood in front of the three powerful Greek gods, you felt a weight on your shoulders, knowing that your decision would affect not only your own fate, but the fate of the gods and the world they ruled over.
Poseidon, Hades, and Zeus had each made their case for why they would be the best partner for you, and it had taken days for you to sort through your thoughts and feelings.
In the end, you spoke the words that would seal your fate. "I choose...Poseidon," you said, your voice barely above a whisper.
Poseidon's face lit up with a brilliant smile, and he stepped forward to take your hand. "You have made an excellent choice, my love," he said, his voice full of pride. "Together, we will rule the seas and explore the depths of the ocean. You will be my queen, and I will be your king."
Hades scowled, his dark eyes glittering with anger. "You have made a mistake," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "Poseidon is fickle and untrustworthy. He will not make you happy."
But Zeus remained neutral, his expression unreadable. "Very well," he said, his voice calm. "I wish you both happiness and prosperity in your future together."
Poseidon took your hand and led you out of the room, his excitement palpable. As you walked down the hallway, he leaned in close to you and whispered, "I promise to show you things that you never thought possible. The sea is full of wonder, and I will share it all with you."
You smiled, feeling your heart swell with excitement and anticipation. You had always loved the sea, and the thought of exploring it with the powerful sea god by your side was almost too much to bear.
As the weeks turned into months, you and Poseidon embarked on countless adventures together. You swam with dolphins, explored hidden caves, and even encountered sea monsters, all with Poseidon by your side, guiding and protecting you.
But not everyone was happy about your decision. Hades continued to voice his displeasure, warning you that Poseidon was a fickle god who could not be trusted. However, Poseidon seemed unbothered by Hades' warnings, and continued to shower you with love and affection.
One day, as you were exploring a coral reef together, Poseidon turned to you and said, "My love, I have a surprise for you." He led you deeper into the reef, and you soon came upon a hidden grotto, filled with treasures beyond your imagination.
"This is our secret place," Poseidon said, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "No one knows about it except for us. It's where we can come to escape the pressures of ruling over the seas."
You felt a surge of joy and gratitude as you looked around the grotto. It was like nothing you had ever seen before, and you knew that you would treasure this moment forever.
As the years passed, you and Poseidon built a life together, ruling over the seas and exploring new lands. Together, you faced challenges and triumphs, and your love for each other only grew stronger with each passing day.
But even as you lived in blissful happiness, you could not shake the feeling that something was not quite right. You began to notice that Poseidon was becoming more distant, more aloof. He seemed to be preoccupied with something, but he would not tell you what it was.
Finally, one night, as you lay in bed together, you could bear it no longer. "Poseidon," you said, your voice soft and uncertain. "Is everything alright? You seem...distant."
Poseidon hesitated, then sighed.
"It's nothing, my love," he said, his voice low. "Just some troubles with the other gods. You need not worry."But you could tell that there was something more, and you pressed him. "Please, Poseidon, tell me what's wrong. We are partners, and we must face everything together."
Poseidon sighed again, then turned to face you, his expression pained. "Very well," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "I have been called away by my duties as the god of the sea. I must leave for a time to deal with a crisis that threatens the balance of the oceans."
You felt a lump form in your throat, and your heart sank. "How long will you be gone?" you asked, dreading the answer.
"I cannot say," Poseidon replied, his voice heavy. "It could be months, or even years. I am sorry, my love, but I must do what is necessary to protect the seas."
You felt tears prick at the corners of your eyes, and you turned away from him, unable to bear the thought of being separated from him for such a long time. "I understand," you said, your voice barely audible. "But please, come back to me as soon as you can."
Poseidon wrapped his arms around you, holding you close. "I will," he said, his voice full of love and sorrow. "I promise that I will return to you, my queen."
With that, he kissed you one last time, then vanished in a swirl of water and foam.
Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. You tried to distract yourself with ruling over the seas and exploring new lands, but every night you went to bed alone, your heart heavy with longing for your beloved Poseidon.
Finally, one day, as you were swimming alone in a quiet cove, you felt a presence behind you. You turned, and there was Poseidon, his eyes sparkling with love and joy.
"My love," he said, his voice full of emotion. "I have returned to you."
You swam to him, wrapping your arms around him and holding him close. "Oh, Poseidon," you said, your voice breaking. "I have missed you so much."
"I have missed you too, my queen," he said, kissing you deeply. "But now, we must focus on our duties together. There is much to be done to ensure the balance of the seas."
You nodded, feeling a sense of purpose and fulfillment return to you. You and Poseidon had been through so much together, and you knew that you were meant to be partners for life.
As the two of you swam off into the depths of the ocean, you felt a sense of joy and contentment wash over you. You had chosen wisely, and you knew that you and Poseidon would rule over the seas together for eternity.
