Chapter 2

Adriana was woken suddenly by the beeping of an alarm. Reluctantly, she reached her hand out of the warm covers to turn off the irritating sound. She shut her eyes once more, and tried to fall back into sleep. It was hard to tell how much time had passed- though it felt very little, before her phone rang again, a different sound than before. Groaning, she picked up the phone and held it to her ear after answering the call.

"Hello?"

"Adriana, where are you? Your fitting started fifteen minutes ago," Crackled the annoyed voice of Stacy. Shoot, she thought, glancing at the time. The signal at the hotel wasn't great, but she managed to hear what Stacy said next, despite the intrusion of the static.

"Your Father has also requested you meet him for breakfast at ten. He has some apparent 'news' he wants to share with you. I'm not sure if you'll be too happy to hear about it though. Unfortunately, I can't tell you much more until then." Stacy continued.

A rush of panic flooded through her as the memories from the night before came back to her. Not only did she miss the pre-launch party her father had organised, she was also currently MIA from her fitting. That must be what the sudden breakfast plan is, a double lecture. She finished speaking with Stacy on the phone, and rubbed her eyes as she sat up in her semi-light room. She frantically got up and started getting ready, and soon left her hotel room, gracefully rushing through the hallways towards small building detached from the hotel.

It was a small space, almost cottage or greenhouse-like, that was just across the hotel gardens. She considered stopping to enjoy the beautiful view, however the later she was, the more her father would criticise her later. She took a deep breath, and strolled through the large double doors of the small building.

An hour later, the fitting over and Adriana was greeted by Stacy outside.

"Morning Stace," Yawned Adriana, beginning to walk after Stacy had motioned for her to.

"Hey, Ads. How was the fitting?" She asked sheepishly. Adriana could sense that something was off, but decided not to ask. Her suspicions were that it was about the breakfast with her Father. Seeing him was a strange occurence, as they only met once every three weeks for a 'family dinner' which was more like a two person pity-party with the pity on themselves.

"Boring. Is Father already in the restaurant?"

"Yup. He's waiting for you."

They walked back through the vast hotel, back to its normal appearance despite the party only being thrown last night. She said a quiet goodbye to Stacy, before putting on an annoyed face and walking into the hotels restaurant where her Father was waiting.

She sat down on the antique chair and a waiter pushed her in after laying a folded napkin onto her lap. Her Father didn't move or make any sound, either too focused on his newspaper or ignoring her. Definetely ignoring her.

It was long after breakfast had been served that he finally chose to talk to her- which she wasn't expecting. What he said next was even more out of the blue.

"Adriana, I have decided to place you into a boarding school in England. It will be a brilliant opportunity for your education to further thrive, as well as to socialise with others your age. I will staying in England for a while, before flying out to Sao Paulo to meet with some buisiness associates and attend to some family matters. I expect you to stay situated in England throughout this busy period, however you will continue with your modelling as you normally would. You will be flying out into Brazil on a date that is not yet confirmed in the spring for your cousin's Quinceanera. You will then return to the house in the United States for the summer once you've completed 11th grade. Any further arrangements will be sorted with Stacy. You fly out next week. Do you understand?"

For a moment, Adriana sat in the large room gaping at her father and trying to process the news as fast as she could. At least I get to be away from father and miss most of his events, one part of her thought, but in England? That was over four thousand miles away. She would no doubt lose contact with the very few friends she had but... She would finally have an opportunity to make new friends. She could do whatever she wanted (to an extent) without being dictated on her every move by her father.

"Sure." She said, feircly looking up at him through her brows. She hoped he knew she would be thrilled to be away from him. The look was acknowledged by him and he rolled his eyes at her childishness. A small burst of pride washed over her, however she hid it and continued to eat her food.

All she had to do was wait a big longer until next week.
