Episode 3: City of Hersey

"Alchemy is the science of understanding, decomposing, and reconstructing matter. However, it is not an all-powerful art. It is impossible to create something out of nothing. If one wishes to obtain something, something of equal value must be paid. This is the law of equivalent exchange, the basis of alchemy. Alchemists have a taboo, and it is human transmutation. It is that which no one must commit."

"How many people do you think actually commit it but are never found?" Edward wondered as the opening song began.

"I'd rather not know the answer to that." Al said darkly. It wasn't something any of them needed to know about. Those people might not be as lucky as them. They could have died from it or been found by officers and killed or arrested for committing the taboo. It was best not to wonder.

After the song was finished the city of Liore was shown with a voice saying, "God's children live upon this land. Pray and thee shall be saved. Those who have lost their way, the Sun God, Leto stall..." The radio drones.

'Leto?' Scar thought angrily. There was no Sun God. This guy was probablyjust another false priest fooling people. He should pay for his sins and forfalsely leading people.

Ed and Aly are drinking orange juice and apple juice, sitting at a strange diner in Liore, and eating lunch. "So what are you guys, like street performers or something?" The man at the diner asks.

Havoc laughed. "Did he really ask that?"

"Yeah, how annoying." Edward grumbled.

"Quite rude if you ask me." Aaliyah scowled.

Ed spits his soda everywhere as Aaliyah tries not to split out of her mouth. "Seriously, do we look like street performers to you?" Ed asks. "Yes, that's why ask?" The diner man says. "Let's go, Al." Aly says as they get up. Al bumps his helmet and the radio falls off, smashing to bits.

"Hey! Easy! I didn't mean nothin' by it!" The man says. "Sorry, accident. We'll fix it." Ed says. "How's that? It's smashed to hell?!" The man says. "Watch and learn, gramps." Aly said. Al draws his transmutation circle with a chalk. "Okay, here goes." Al said. People have gathered. Al fixed the radio. "There, see? How's that?" Ed asks.

"Amazing! It's a miracle. You've been touched by the Sun God, just like Father Cornello." The man said. "Touched by who, now?" Ed said. "It's not a miracle. It's alchemy." Aly said. "Oh, so you three are Alchemists. I've heard of that." One guy pipes up. "Then maybe you've heard of us. We're the Elric brothers, and that's the Blue Flame Alchemist." Ed stated.

"Elric brothers, you say? And Blue Flame Alchemist?" The diner man asks.

"Hey, I do know that name!" One says. "I heard the elder brother is the Fullmetal Alchemist and Blue Flame Alchemist, Aaliyah Martin." Another asked. "Wow, so you two are the young Prodigies?" Another asks Ally and Al, everyone crowds them.

"Um no...it's not me." Al waved his hand for assurance. "Huh?" They all said and turned to look at Ed. "What? You mean it's that shorty over there?" One asked. "WHO'S LITTLE? COME HERE AND SAY IT TO MY FACE! I DARE YA!" Ed shouted angrily.
