"And I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
"Amen."

Now, to wait for my sister to come pick me up. Heaven forbid that my parents pick me up.
Poor Evelyn, her job ends at 8. The same time my youth activity ends. I have empathy for her about that. I'm not impatient.
Rick sighed. "Are you sure you don't want me to drive you home?"
"I'm sure, my sister's got it."
"Alright. I'll stay here with you until she gets here so you aren't alone.." Rick sighed again, this time in defeat.

My sister's job was across town, so it'll take a bit for her to get here. "If you have to get home, you can, you know," I smiled at Rick reassuringly. "I'm not stopping you."

"Yeah, I just feel bad leaving you here..." Rick frowned. "I don't want you to be here alone."

"I thought you had a lot of homework?" I smirked.

Rick sighed in defeat again. "Okay, fine, I just wanna put it off for as long as I can..."

"Heh, gotcha." I smugly smiled.

"Shut up." Rick punched my arm playfully as we both laughed.

Before I knew it, Evelyn's car pulled up. "Oh, my sister's here! Bye Rick!"
"Bye, Streber," he waved. "See you on Sunday."

"See ya Sunday!" I waved as I ran off to Evelyn's car.

"Hey, little dude!" Evelyn ruffled my hair as I got into the car. "Mom reminded me to take you to the eye doctor to pick up your glasses."

"That's today?" My face lit up. "I can finally see like I normal person!"

Evelyn chuckled. "Yup! How was your activity?" She began driving.

"We did 9 square again.."

"You hate 9 square." Evelyn said.

"I'm not big on sports."

"Nah, you're just short." Evelyn teased.

"Oh, shut up!"

"You are, though~" She laughed. "It's alright, at least you won't be asked to reach for stuff on the top shelf."

"Yeah, yeah.." I softly chuckled. I feel like I should probably tell Evelyn that something is wrong...probably with me, but is this the best time?

"Uh, Ev..?" I muttered anxiously.

"Yes, Streb? Is everything okay?"

"I think I have a crush on someone.." I forced out.

Evelyn looked at me puzzled for a moment. "You don't have to be embarrassed about that, crushes are completely normal! What's her name, if you don't mind me asking?"

I froze for a moment. I knew deep down what I was about to say could change the course of my relationship with my sister forever.

"He's...not a girl.."
