Crowly glanced across the cafe at the obvious demon sitting in a corner. He’d been waiting for them to approach him or do something for the last hour and a half, but they’d done nothing but occasionally glance over at him over their laptop.
He’d ponder what they could possibly be waiting for, and why they were here. He’d figured it had something to do with him and Aziraphale’s last performance in Heaven and Hell.
Finally, he sighed, paying his check and waltzing out the door. As expected, the demon followed him. He pretended not to notice, instead slipping down a small alleyway.
He hummed some Queen song that’d been floating around the back of his head, spinning the Bentley’s keys around a finger as he swaggered to the back of the alleyway.
Quiet, almost hesitant footsteps echoed down the alleyway while he waited. As the other demon rounded the corner, he lowered his sunglasses and waited for them to say something. Instead, they screeched to a halt, stumbling slightly.
“Please don’t discorporate me,” was the first thing they actually managed to say. Crowly almost huffed a laugh. “Not right now I won’t. I want some answers before that.” The demon straightened slightly, hands wringing their bag’s main strap. They seemed young, and extremely nervous.
“O-okay, so you’re Crowley, right? You probably knew I was following you, but honestly, I was just trying to figure out to approach you. I mean, you’re the demon who bathed in Holy Water for Hell’s sake, which is actually kind of why I’m here… and I’m rambling. Sorry…” they began, stuttering and waving their hands around aimlessly.
Crowley raised an eyebrow. “Why exactly are you here? Who the devil are you?”
They sighed, clearing their throat. “I- I’m Xiphos. I was sent by Hastur and Beelzebub to spy on you and the angel Aziraphale. B-but! Before y-you attack me to protect yourself and the angel, I a-actually have no intention of listening to them. Which is why I’m warning you. When I stop answering and they eventually come t-to drag me back down, they will p-probably send another demon to spy on you.”
“Well, thanks for the warning and all, but that doesn’t explain why you’re spying on us. I figured they’d be too afraid to spy on us after our little stunts,” Crowly answered, leaning against the wall.
Xiphos seemed to struggle with how to respond. “W-well, that’s a-actually why I was sent to spy on you. T-they want to know how you did that. The whole ‘survive Holy Water and Hell Fire’ thing. They h-honestly didn’t give me much more instruction than that.”
Crowley sighed, massaging the bridge of his nose. “Alright, listen, I need to go do some things before I get more answers out of you. Do you know where An- Aziraphale’s shop is?”
They nodded.
“Great, go there, explain the situation to him, then wait there until I arrive. Then we’re both asking more questions. Got it?” He straightened his glasses.
The demon nodded again, before disappearing with a snap. Crowley sighed before making his way back to the Bentley.

Aziraphale had been having a nice day rearranging his shop and not actually selling any books when someone knocked on the door. He groaned slightly before calling out in a pleasant tone, “We’re closed!”
The knock came again, and he grumbled again, setting down the stack of books he’d been carrying. He walked to the door, opened it, and plastered a pleasant smile on his face. “I’m sorry, we’re closed for the-”
His smile dropped as he noticed the demonic energy surrounding the person. They seemed nervous, wringing their hands. “C-can I come in? U-um, Crowley told me to come h-here to wait…”
