Nilsa moved back the furs as she sat up with a slight wince, she reached for her brush when she jumped in surprise at the feeling of hands moving her hair from her bare shoulder. She hummed softly when Uhtred leaned in and kissed her shoulder. She leaned back into his chest as he trailed his fingers over her stomach and left goosebumps in the wake. She felt a pleasant soreness between her legs from her and Uhtred's lovemaking.

"I need to brush my hair, Uhtred." She whispered and moaned when Uhtred kissed up her throat and bit her ear softly. She was beginning to learn he was a tease when it came to the act of sex, it was nice.

"I like your hair like this, messy and wild. It makes you look divine." Uhtred grinned against her jaw when she reached behind them to grab the back of his head, she almost gave in until she realized he was laying her back against the bed, no doubt for another round.

"Uhtred, we have not left this bed in two days. Your men are probably worried." She said with soft eyes as she caressed his cheek, Uhtred rolled his eyes and kissed down her chest and stomach.

"They know where I am." She giggled when he nipped at her thighs with a playful smile of his own.

"You have people to lead. It is unlike you to disappear, they are sure to worry about you." Uhtred sighed as he laid his head against her thigh.

"We have been married three days and you are already depriving me of your gorgeous and delicious body." Uhtred mumbled with a slight whine as she patted his cheek with a soft grin.

"I am only speaking sense, lord." She said and turned to sit up again, she moved her legs from around his shoulders as he made a noise of complaint. She reached back to pull all her hair over one shoulder to brush it but Uhtred reached for the brush first and gently guided it through the tangled knots. "Thank you, husband." She whispered and was rewarded with a sweet and chaste kiss from Uhtred.

"Had I not agreed to this, Sihtric would have married you in a heartbeat." She blushed at the comment and felt the brush gently glide through her hair. "He's always had this love for you, since the moment he saw you."

"But he is your friend? Do you not feel guilty?"  She whispered with a frown.

"No, I do not. You spoke of your desire for children, I am content with one between us. But Sihtric, he would keep you full with his child, I do not mind who sired them just that they belong to you." He moved his fingers between her thighs as she gasped in shock.

"They would be bastards, my reputation would be tarnished, husband." She felt insulted that he would suggest such a thing.

"No, they would not be. No one would have to know. Finan and Osferth do not yearn to continue their bloodline. I am plenty to keep mine going, not including the one we surely just created. Sihtric could give you what you desire, imagine it. You're beauty and his eyes? No doubt a divine being in the making." She bit her lip as his fingers entered her, she clutched his wrist as he worked her into another climax.

"You would allow that, truly? And would he agree to it?" She didn't understand the way he viewed things, it was so different from how she was raised. Was this the way of the Danes? Or just Uhtred's?

"Yes, my dear. To both of those, just think about it." He allowed the silence to linger between them before speaking again. "You should let Sihtric braid some flowers in your hair, the colors would highlight your natural beauty." Uhtred claimed as he kissed her cheek and pulled her closer.

"I would like that. My father would help me make crowns of flowers and vines growing up, unfortunately, I could not wear it out as it goes against Saxon and Christian customs." She said with a small frown. Uhtred paused and leaned his forehead against the back of her head as he wrapped one of his arms around her naked stomach.

"You are free to be whoever you want to be here, Nilsa. And you are free to wear flower crowns and talk to all the animals your heart desires." She smiled and turned to her husband as she held his face in her soft hands.

"Thank you, Uhtred," She kissed him sweetly and looked over at the window. "Look, husband. Nature has blessed our union." She said with happiness as she walked to the window where beautiful purple flowers swayed in the wind.

Uhtred furrowed his eyebrows at the sight, he didn't have flowers on the windowsill last night. He stands behind Nilsa as he props his chin on her shoulder, he observes her with interest as she caresses the flowers as if they were something precious.

"We call those Friddjargras which means Frigg's grass." Uhtred tells her as she watches in fascination as they seem to droop towards her and sprout straight up when she touches them.

"We call them Orchids but I like that name better. Friddjargras," She repeated the name a few more times as Uhtred gazed at her. "They represent fertility and femininity. Did you know that bees and butterflies are often lured in by them due to the sweet scent they put off?" She spoke happily as she turned in his embrace until they were chest to chest. He chuckled at her almost child-like innocence as he reached up to push her hair out of her face.

"No, I did not. But I would listen to you speak of flowers and insects all day if I could." Nilsa frowned as she glanced down at the floor, Uhtred became confused and gently lifted her face back up to look at her. "I did not mean to offend you."

"No, it's...I know I'm not exactly...proper. And you may say those things now, Uhtred, but I will eventually annoy you with these things. I cannot contain myself when it comes to nature and the beauty of it, my father was the only one to truly care what I had to say. I know what people speak about me in secret and the words they use to describe me. Just promise me that you will tell me to stop speaking when you become irritated, I don't want you to resent me." Uhtred pulled her into a hug as she nuzzled into his chest, she relaxed into his warm embrace when he kissed her head and stroked her hair.

"I promise you, Nilsa, that I won't resent you nor would I ever be annoyed with your love for nature. I find it amusing, yes, but it makes you happy and it's refreshing. Mayhaps Finan can tell you some stories of nature in Ireland." Nilsa lit up at that and stood up on her tippy toes to kiss him again.

"I would love that." The two soon got dressed and she held the Dane's hand as he led her to the hall where his men waited. She beamed when he pulled her into his lap and Sihtric smiled at her when she noticed he was playing with a baby mouse. She felt a small blush arise on her cheeks as she remembered Uhtred's words from before, Finan raised his cup at them in greeting as he drank some ale and Osferth brought them some dinner with a shy smile.

"I was beginning to believe she might have killed you, lord." Finan teased and Uhtred laughed as he rubbed her back.

"Death by a beautiful woman is not the worst way to go." She smacked his chest softly and reached out her palm as Sihtric placed the mouse in her hand, Uhtred arched an eyebrow when Sihtric subtly grazed his fingertips against hers. "What does nature say?" Uhtred asked as she cooed at the little creature.

"A grey mouse is said to be bad luck, husband. I fear that the plan you have made will not go as planned." She says as the mouse rolls over in her palms, she giggles as it kicks her fingers playfully. Uhtred frowns at her prediction, he had hopes of reclaiming Bebbanburg soon. He absentmindedly raked his fingers through her hair as he watched her and the mouse.
