Touring.
Every entertainer can relate to the love of it. Everything about it is such an amazing experience, even if it's visiting the same place. When the members of R5 found out they were going to the UK for a month-worth of shows, they were beyond ecstatic.
A particular member, who happened to be the only girl, Rydel, was especially giddy about the whole thing. She thought she was the one who enjoyed it most out of everyone. She soaked in every second of every place they went; the sights, the people, the food. Oh man, the food. One of her most favorite things in the whole world was food. The fact that no two dishes were alike just made her want to try everything that was ever created!
Now, in the United Kingdom, the food just made Rydel's eyes bright with happiness. The way that Britain had their afternoon tea set up so nice and cute, and just the plain meals there, which looked so simple compared to everyone else, was a whole other thing for her. Just the fact that it was different from a normal American dinner made it 'exotic' for her. What could she say? She was a food addict. Scottish food was another thing. It made her want to sit down around a large wooden table and eat next to a fire. It was a.. Homey food. Irish food just made her stomach feel extra nice and warm on the inside. When ordering her food, while talking to a thick-accented waiter/waitress, now that was the best thing.
All in all, she thought her favorite was Welsh because it was just too adorable and made her a happy camper.
While Rydel was thinking about all these wonderful thoughts, her face brightened even more just as she felt the plane land bumpily onto the English land. About five minutes later, the large plane came to a complete stop and Rydel unbuckled right away, smile big on her face.
"Ross," She prodded her sleeping brother on her right to wake him up, "We're here." Her brother shifted slightly in his seat, head lolling on his shoulder. Rydel knew it would ache when he woke up because of staying in that same uncomfortable position for over ten hours. She prodded him again, a little harder this time, and his eyes flickered open slowly(then shut right away, because of the lighting change).
"Let's go," Rydel stood up and stretched, stepping into the aisle leading out of the plane, "I want to get some coffee or something before we go to our hotel."
Ross groaned and carefully turned his head back, wincing at the lulling ache in his neck. Slowly, he got up, rubbed his eyes, yawned, stretched, and pulled his backpack over his shoulder. He stepped into the now almost empty plane aisle and trudged through the jet bridge, yawning even more on the way.
When he finally stepped into the actual airport, he saw his parents waiting for him and he walked up to them. "Where's everyone else?"
"Bathroom," His mother, Stormie, replied, "They're all freshening up and all, so go quickly, because we need to check into our hotel soon."
"Alright." Ross went to the bathroom where he saw his three brothers, Riker, Rocky, Ryland, and Ellington, their best friend. It took him about ten minutes to do everything necessary, and after that he felt more refreshed and awake. About ten minutes after that, they were on a train to the heart of London.
Ross took in all the scenery within the forty-five minutes they were passing. It was so different from anywhere in the U.S., and suddenly he was more excited for this tour than he was before. The forty-five minutes soon passed and they were getting off the actually quite comfortable, train, lugging their bags down the huge steps to the ground.
Once they stepped out of the train station(after checking out Platform Nine and Three Quarters, of course), it was like someone had just taken a picture with flash two inches in front of their faces. "Wow," Ross heard Rydel breathe in beside him, looking all over the station, "I love it already."
One step out of the station was all it took for Ross, and everyone else, to realize how beautiful this foreign place was. It was the absolutely, in the biggest way possible, different than any city he'd ever seen. Everything was so, he didn't even know how to describe it. It was breathtaking to him, even though it was the most normal thing to everyone else. It felt like he had just breathed in fresh air.
Stormie called over a big taxi and they all fit their large luggages in the trunk, squeezing some in the front too. It fit cozy in the large van, thankfully."Mom," Rydel got Stormie's attention before she stepped into the van, "Can I walk the way to the hotel?"
Stormie looked a bit skeptical, but Rydel reminded her the ways to the hotel wasn't even that far away. "Well.." Rydel cut her off. "Mom, I can call you if anything happens. I just wanna walk around and get some coffee. Riker'll come with me too!"
Our oldest brother's head snapped up from resting on his chest, slightly dozing off while everyone was talking. "Wha-?" He rubbed his eyes and shook his head like a dog, as doing that would clear his drowsiness. "You'll walk to the hotel with me, won't you, Riker?"
"Sorry, Del. I need fourteen more hours of sleep," And with that, he climbed into the back of the taxi van. Rydel groaned, "Ross, you'll come with me, right?"
"I'm fine with that, let's go," Stormie looked reluctant to let us go alone, but finally she agreed. "Anyone else wanna walk?" Everyone else shook their head and started to get into the taxi, all yawning. "Am I the only one who's excited!?"
"Nah, we're just, what's the word?" Rocky turned around to face the two, "Oh yeah, tired. Now bye-bye!"
Rydel rolled her eyes and they both waved goodbye to the taxi. They watched it take a left at the intersection and it drove out of view. Ross took a deep breath and turned to face his sister. "So what are we doing now?"
Rydel's face scrunched up slightly in thought and then replied, "Does coffee sound good? Then we can walk to our hotel and look at everything along the way."
"Alright," He said, "Where's the coffee place?"
Taking her phone out, Rydel asked Siri where the nearest coffee store was, which turned out to be just a few blocks away, at a place called Costa Coffee. The two stepped into the packed shop and was instantly greeted by the strong smell of coffee beans. There were all different groups of people sitting at the small round tables, conversing with their delightful sounding accent, sipping their drinks or eating small pastries. The atmosphere was happy and joyful, it made Ross feel good about the start of the day.
"What do you want to get?" Rydel walked towards the line of four people getting ready to order. He looked up at the menu of drinks and shrugged. "Actually, I'll just get hot chocolate. I'm in the mood for that."
"I'm not sure if that gives you caffeine, but alright," Rydel gave him a weird look but turned back to face the menu above them. She ordered hot chocolate and some coffee thing he didn't catch the name of once it was their turn, and sat down at a near by table while waiting.
"That guy who got my order had the cutest accent, oh my gosh," Rydel gushed as she took a seat. Ross rolled his eyes and said, "Rydel, they all have the same accent."
"Well this was the first person I talked to with a British accent which is why this is such a big deal, Ross," Rydel turned back and looked at the guy who was taking a small man's order, "I love British accents so much."
Once again Ross rolled his eyes. "There's gonna be a lot more people we talk to with the same accent, so I hope you don't act like this each time," He said amused. It was times like this that made him realize how much family meant to him. Just the simple things in life made him not take things for granted easily. His family would always make him feel good when he was at his worst, and that was what he loved most. The thing he cherished most was love, and that's what his family had most. Thinking of all this made a smile grow on his face, bigger and bigger until it hurt.
Rydel looked over and cocked her head at him. "What?" Ross' smile became larger, if that was even possible. "Nothing," He got up as their drinks approached them. Taking each drink in one hand, he took them from the worker his sister had gushed over, and beckoned her to come follow. "Let's go explore London."
