⫸ Hello readers and welcome to my new story! I just recently discovered the Welcome Home rabbit hole and have been looking for something to write a fan-fiction about for a while now. This basically fell into my lap lol.

⫸ This is chapter one, but I called it chapter zero because it's really short and is mostly just an introduction to the story. I also wanted to say hi and offer some information before you start reading!

⫸ In this story, the puppets aren't... puppets. They are all still cooky in the ways that they are, but they are humanoid in the sense that their skin isn't felt and they aren't being held up by strings lol.

⫸ The story is in second person, so you are "you". There might be short intermission chapters that offer a different character's POV in third person.

⫸ There will likely be violence and/or smut at some point. If there is, I'll warn you in the chapter that it will contain something sensitive.

⫸ Lastly, enjoy reading! And don't forget that my DMs are always open.

You were leaving.

After a new name, new birth certificate, new ID card, new closet, new everything, all of it forged and very expensive, you were almost ready. There was only one more new thing needed for your new life to be complete.

A new home.

They had ruined your life. They forced you to do things you would never do in a million years, just because you messed up once, and they blackmailed you—looming the threat of exposing your mistake over your head if you did not do as they said. They knew everything about the old you, but soon enough, they would not know anything. The thought of their pathetic, violent, disgusting minds being suddenly unable to locate you filled you with such glee.

The only thing you felt guilty about was leaving your family behind in the same town as them. Surely, until they found you, the group would capture, torture, and wreck the lives of your family members until they found out where you were. However, you had accounted for that fact and sent your family a very expensive package with new IDs, birth certificates, and license plates for them to leave. You had also left them a note, filling them in on everything, and you promised that you would find a way to contact them once it was safe. After all, you and only you knew what their new names would be. But you still felt guilty, because there was a chance that your family would not believe you, or that the group would capture your family before they did believe you.

In your final moments at home, you spent a long time looking for a new place to live. Eventually, you found somewhere: a quiet place in the middle of the country side, a place where news never spread nationally. A place that looked bright, from what little you could find about it online. But that was good; less information online meant less information about your whereabouts.

So, it was settled. You packed everything that was essential, leaving behind enough so that it looked like you never left. The lease on your apartment was up in a month, and you never renewed it, so eventually, the landlord would enter and find the place abandoned, as if you vanished into thin air.

And that was perfect.
