"Hey babe." Ethan grinned as he walked up to Jade standing at her locker. "Are you ready to go? I figured we could hit up the arcade downtown. My boys are going there after they leave detention."
Jade sighed. She grabbed her books and shoved them into her bag. "It's fine if you wanna go without me and just hang out with them. I don't feel that great."
Ethan leaned in so only she could hear. "Maybe you lost too much blood and you're a little nauseous. I'll get you a snack when we get there."
Jade gulped. "What are you talking about?" She refused to face him.
Ethan took her hand in his making Jade face him. He smirked and slipped his hand up the sleeve of her shirt. "Does the ex know about your little problem?"
"Don't tell him." Jade begged. she closed her eyes hoping Ethan wouldn't see the fear in them, but he already saw it.
"Calm down, babe. I have no reason to talk to my girlfriend's ex. That is, unless you don't wanna go out anymore? Then I guess there's no reason to avoid a conversation with your ex boyfriend."
"Don't." Jade sighed. "I'll go."
"Good girl. See how easy everything can be when you just agree?" He put his arms around her. "Remember to play nice this time. No wonder no one loves you with the way you act. If you just play nice then people wouldn't hate you."
"No one hates me." Jade argued.
"Your friends do. They're scared of you and they hate when you're around. You always ruin their good time with your bad attitude. I overheard them talking."
"Overheard who talking?"
"That Tori chick and the music guy."
"Tori and Andre?" Jade clenched her teeth. "They're not my friends."
"Oh, and the red headed one that dresses like a toddler. What was her name?" He smirked when he saw Jade's face fall. "I think it was Cat? That it?"
Jade gulped. "Yeah.. Her name is Cat."
"Yeah, she's the one who said she'd be happier if she never became friends with you." Ethan felt Jade freeze.
"C-Cat said that?"
"That's what I heard. She said it's hard being friends with someone who scares her and yells at her all the time." He chuckled. "She sounds like such a baby. Why did you even become friends?"
He led Jade over to his car and opened the door. She was practically catatonic when he put her in the car.
"Cat said that?" Jade whispered to herself. "But I heard her tell Robbie she was worried about me?" She frowned.
Ethan got behind the wheel and started his car. He could tell Jade was lost in thought, probably questioning her friendship with the red headed girl.
Jade stared out the window as he drove and thought about when her and Cat first met and became best friends.
"Don't play with Jade. She's mean."
"And scary!"
"She's really weird."
"She doesn't look weird to me." Six year old Cat said as she walked over to the little girl playing with clay by herself.
"Hi. I'm Cat!"
Seven year old Jade looked up at the brunette wearing all pink. Then she looked back down at her black lump of clay and continued moulding it.
"What are you making?"
"A raven."
"I'm gonna make a giraffe!" Cat said down and pulled out the purple clay.
"Giraffe's aren't purple."
"Mine is!" Cat giggled. "His name is Mr. purple so he has to purple!"
"You're weird."
Cat looked up and pouted. "What does that mean? Those girls said you were weird, but I don't know what that means." She continued playing with her purple clay, stretching it out to make a long neck for her giraffe friend.
Jade glared at the girls playing with dolls in the corner, they gasped in fear, then she looked back at Cat. "It means you're not normal like you should be."
Cat looked up at Jade. "Why?"
"Why what?"
"Why should you be normal? My daddy always says to just be me. If me is not normal than why be normal when I can be me?" Cat stated with a smile.
"My daddy always said to be normal, but what's normal for girls is gross to me. I don't wanna play with dolls. I like art."
"I like art too! Tomorrow, wanna finger paint with me! I love finger paints!"
Jade mustered up a small smile. "Yeah."
"Hey Jadey?"
"How did you know my name?'
"Those girls said it."
"I don't like them."
"Do you like me?"
Jade gave her a look. "I guess."
"Then can we be best friends?!" Cat asked grinning with excitement.
Jade sighed. "I guess."
"Yay! Best friends forever!"
"Forever?" Jade smirked. "Forever means you'll never leave me. Even if I scare you or yell at you or act mean?"
Cat gulped. "Your smiling scary, but yeah forever means I'll never leave you."
Jade's smirk became a full on grin. "I'm holding you too that. If you leave me then I'm gonna rip the head off your giraffe and feed it to my raven."
Cat gasped. "Mr. Purple!" She pouted. "Kay, then if you leave me I'm gonna make your black raven yellow like sunshine and you have to take it with you everywhere!" Cat declared.
"I don't like yellow."
"Then you can never leave me." Cat smiled, a large grin with missing teeth.
"Your smile is scary too." Jade grinned. "I like it!" She announced.
