It was your sixth year at Hogwarts, and you were feeling more stressed out than ever. Your studies were getting harder, and tensions between the houses were growing more intense by the day. As a Muggle-born Slytherin, you were used to feeling like an outsider, but lately, it seemed like the divide was even wider than before.
One person who had always made your life difficult was Draco Malfoy. He had picked on you relentlessly in your first year, but that all changed when you became friends with Harry, Ron, and Hermione. They had put a stop to his taunts, and since then, he had mostly left you alone.
However, you couldn't deny that there was something about Draco that intrigued you. Despite his reputation as a bully, you had noticed that he had a vulnerable side that he only showed to a select few. There was something deeper and more complex about him that drew you in.
But you couldn't deny that there were obstacles in your way. For one thing, you were a Muggle-born Slytherin, and Draco was a pure-blood from a long line of Death Eaters and it was hard enough being accepted as a Muggle-born in Slytherin, let alone pursue a relationship with a pure-blood Slytherin.
As the year went on, you noticed that Draco was acting more distant than usual. He had always preferred to be alone, but lately, it seemed like he was even more isolated than usual. You had noticed this, even though you and Draco were not exactly friends, let alone acquaintances. Since he stopped picking on you in your first year, you and him had shared fleeting glances in the corridors, and you had seen the pain in his eyes.
You couldn't help but wonder what was causing him so much pain. Regardless of your reservations, you found yourself drawn to him more and more every day. You found yourself seeking him out in the hallways, lingering in the library just to catch a glimpse of him. You even found yourself daydreaming about what it would be like to kiss him, to hold him in your arms, to feel his warm breath on your skin...
You never came around to hate him, despite him being an idiot in your first year. You cursed yourself for craving his presence but you couldn't deny your feelings for him. Whenever you saw him, he seemed to be carrying a weight on his shoulders, and you couldn't help but wonder what was going on with him.
It all came to a head one night when you found yourself unable to sleep. You tossed and turned in your bed, your mind racing with thoughts of Draco. Unable to take it any longer, you decided to take a walk around the castle to clear your head.
As you wandered through the empty halls of Hogwarts, you heard a scream coming from one of the bathrooms.
Without thinking, you rushed inside, and what you saw made your blood run cold.
Draco was lying on the floor, bleeding profusely from deep gashes in his chest and arms. It was Harry who had cast the spell - Sectumsempra - that had caused the wounds. You were furious with Harry, who just stood there, watching as Draco bled out. You felt your blood boil with anger.
"Harry, how could you do this?" you exclaimed, tears streaming down your face. "Look what you've done to him!"
You were furious with him, but your anger quickly turned to panic as you realized the severity of Draco's injuries.
Luckily Snape arrived soon and used a spell to tend Draco's wounds. You had known that Draco was in danger, but you hadn't realized just how serious it was, until you saw the expression on Professor Snape's face.
As he took Draco away to the hospital wing, you couldn't help but feel a deep sense of unease. You had seen the pain in Draco's eyes, the fear, and the desperation.
Over the next few days, you spent most of your time in the hospital wing, keeping vigil by Draco's side. You watched as he lay there, his body battered and bruised, his face twisted in pain. Draco was in and out of consciousness for days. You felt helpless and powerless, unable to do anything to ease his suffering.
And yet, even in the midst of all this pain and anguish, there was a sense of... something else. Something deeper and more profound. You couldn't quite put your finger on it, but it was there, lurking just beneath the surface.
As you sat by Draco's bedside, you couldn't help but pour out all your feelings to him. You told him how you had secretly adored him since your first year at Hogwarts.
Tears streamed down your face as you recounted how hurt you were when he and his friends used to pick on you for being a Muggle-born.
"I don't know why I'm telling you all this," you said, sniffling. "I guess it's because I still care about you, even though you hate me."
At that moment, Draco's hand twitched slightly, and you jumped in surprise.
"I don't hate you," Draco said weakly, his voice barely above a whisper. "I never have."
You turned to him in shock, your heart racing. "What do you mean?"
Draco took a deep breath, wincing in pain. "I've always had feelings for you, but I didn't know how to express them. I thought you would never feel the same way, especially after all the things I've done to you."
You stared at him, your eyes widening in surprise. "You... you like me?"
Draco nodded, a faint blush creeping up his cheeks. "More than anything."
You felt a surge of warmth in your chest, and you couldn't help but lean in towards him. You brushed a lock of his hair away from his face and looked into his eyes. "I like you too, Draco. I always have."
"I'm sorry," he said, his voice barely audible. "I'm sorry for everything I've done to you. I'm sorry for all the times I've hurt you. I'm sorry for being such an idiot."
"I forgive you," you said softly. "I forgive you for everything. But... why now? Why are you saying this now?"
Draco hesitated, then took a deep breath. "Because... because I don't know if I'm going to make it. I don't know if I'm going to be okay. And if I don't make it... I want you to know that I care about you. That I've always cared about you. I don't want to lose you,", he said, his voice trembling. "I don't want to lose you before we even have a chance to start.""
You felt tears prick at the corners of your eyes. "We'll get through this," you said. "We'll get through it together."
You leaned in even closer and pressed your lips against his, feeling a jolt of electricity course through your body as your lips met. It was a soft, gentle kiss, filled with all the emotion that had been building up between you for years.
As you pulled away, you looked into Draco's eyes and saw something that you had never seen before – a glimmer of hope and happiness. Despite everything that had happened, despite the pain and the fear and the uncertainty, you knew that you had each other, and that was all that mattered.
