Leo and I were carrying our duffel bags and a few other bags that had our basic essentials in them, along with clothes and items we wanted to be able to access while moving. Our mom Tasha had married her now husband Donald Davenport and they will not shut up about it.

To be honest it's getting annoying. Leo also thinks it's getting annoying and we both just want them to shut it. When we finally walked through the front door, following after my mom and step-dad, Leo shouted, "We get it, you got married! It's getting old." And I nodded in agreement.

We looked around the space in front of us and I was in shock, "Woah-" I said in amazement, while Leo just loudly said "WOW!"

"You got this big house just from inventing stuff?" Leo asked Mr. Davenport. He just nodded his head yes. "Way to go Mom!" I exclaimed in excitement. "Now that's a husband." Leo said in agreement.

Leo notices some weird machine thing that looks like some sort of weird lightbulb and walks over to it while asking, "What the heck is that?"

Mr. Davenport walks over to him, while grabbing Leo to stop him from touching whatever that thing is. "Oh, uh." Mr. Davenport stammers before it explaining.

"That is my latest creation." He says, "Davenport Industries' first completely interactive 3-D TV!" He explains. Leo and I watch in shock as Mr. Davenport turns it on by waving his hands around it in a weird way.

Suddenly there's a flash from the device and a holographic type baseball field appears, with players on the field. The batter swings and hits the baseball. The ball flies over towards us and Leo backs up in an attempt to either not get hit by the ball, or catch it. Not entirely sure to be honest.

Luckily, or unluckily depending how you look at it, the ball misses him by a few inches, but Leo had banged into the wall and his shoulder hit a weird tablet like thing on the wall.

Suddenly the screen turned on and an icon that resembles a lock but with a face appears and shouts at Leo. "Watch the face, termite!" It yells.

Leo backs away and faces Mom, Mr. Davenport and I and looks slightly downwards while saying, "Mom, I think the little voice inside my head is back." I try to stifle my laugh and cover my mouth to hide my amusement.

Mr. Davenport speaks up and says, "No, this is Eddy. My home security system. Eddy this is my new step-son Leo and his adoptive sister, Ellie. Remember I told you Leo, Ellie, and Tasha are moving in today?"

Eddy lets out a forced laugh and says, "Hey, welcome. Everything here is mine." Yeah, he's definitely not gonna be very nice to us AT ALL. Swear to god, he's probably gonna try to kill us or something at one point.

"Uh, Leo, Ellie, why don't you go check out your new bedrooms. Just go straight down that hallway, and when you see the room with the video games and the actions figures and the 50-foot-screen TV, keep walking— that's mine." Davenport says. Wow ok that guy is kinda weird, but if he makes my mom happy, then I'm ok with it and I'll learn to deal with his antics.

Eventually...

—————

Leo and I have been wandering the halls trying to find our rooms. Davenport told us our rooms would be near each other so we aren't too far apart from the other since this is a big change for us, so he wanted us to be comfortable. Which seems off-brand for him to be honest.

After 10 minutes of wandering around searching, Leo stops to lean against the wall because of how tired he is. I swear this kid has the endurance of a sloth.

"This place is huge!" I exclaim. "We're gonna need a GPS just to find the bathroom!" Leo says in agreement. As he leans against the wall he leans on some sort of control panel/key pad or something.
