It was the day before the kids were adopted, when they were being brought to the adoption center. Everyone was dropped off and put into their "rooms". However as they were counting off all of the dragon hybrid children and people on the island, they realized one of the island's residents was gone. The staff were unsure of what to do with the child. They didn't know if or when the resident was going to return but they knew the child was his.

One of the workers suggested they put her in a separate room so no one that's not her father takes her as their own. People agreed but didn't know where to put her. It was getting late and mostly everyone else had gotten done with setting up the children they were assigned to getting ready to be adopted. All but two of the workers had left.

"Alright this little one's all set to get a new home." Serena said as she looked over to Cole, who was still holding the sleeping brunette child.

"Do you need help finding a place for her?" She asked him as he continued to try and find a place to have her stay in.

"Huh?" He asked, looking up at her. "Oh! No, I'm sure I can find her a good place to stay." He told her. "Go ahead and head home before mobs spawn."

She looked at him skeptically before coming to a conclusion. "Alright, make sure she's in a safe place and away from anyplace mobs can get her." She said as she grabbed her bag and headed towards the exit.

"Will do! See ya later!" He whisper-yelled, careful to not awake the children, to her as she walked out.

"See ya!" She said back. Cole watched her go up the road until she went over and past the buildings.

Once he knew for sure she was gone, he looked back down at the little girl in his arms. "What am I going to do with you? Seems like your father doesn't want much to do with this place." He whispered to her, but left out the 'including you' part and thought about it instead.

He looked around and saw a ladder that led to the attic where they got the supplies for the kids while they waited to be adopted. He walked over to it and looked up at the closed trap door.

The attic was empty and he knew that so it would be perfect to keep her safe. Her father could also come back at any time, maybe even tomorrow.

"I'm sure your dad will be back soon so you won't even have to stay up there too long anyway." He said as he grabbed a torch to light when he got up there.

He climbed the ladder, keeping a tight grip on the child. When he climbed to the top, he pushed the closed trap door up just enough for him to not rub the girl against the floor, or ceiling maybe?

When he got them both up there, he noticed that some of the torches from when they were already up there were still burning. It looked like they could burn for a few more hours before going out.

He grabbed some sticks from his satchel and a flint in steel. Just in case the burning torches go out. (Yeah, cause leaving a flint and steel with flammable objects is such a smart idea.) He put them down on the ground and looked around once more.

The attic had wood pillars with quartz and terracotta striped walls. There were little patches of dirt from all of the boxes from outside when they were stored there. There weren't any windows, but that might not be so bad because then no one could see and try to take her before her father comes, if he ever does.

There was also one of the rooms up there that all the other kids were in. He walked over and opened the hatch to the door. He made sure the mattress was nice and soft for her then placed her on it.

He did one more look around and came to the conclusion that it seemed good enough. He went back down the ladder, making sure to close the trap door and lock the latch then went down to the main floor. When he reached the bottom, he grabbed all his stuff and moved the ladder outside so the kid couldn't get out when she woke up.

He then went to the train station to get back home at the main land.
