Part One: Under The Mountain
Year 5,011 AS
It was the middle of the night. Only two of the three moons shown in the sky with and army of stars shinning behind them. In a cave sticking out of the side of a mountain, slightly illuminated by the moonlight, next to a roaring waterfall, sat Stormcaller. He looked to be around his mid twenties in dragon years and the scar that was previously over his eye, looked slightly less visible. In monster terms he looked extremely young despite being a couple myriads old. His current age only beaten by two other monsters, both being a Fatalis.
The last eighteen years had been interesting to say the least. Stormcaller had been able to explore the eastern side of the continent with out causing any problems, something he could never accomplish if he were still a Fatalis. A few years after he had been turned into a dragon, Stormcaller was going to tell someone he considered to be his most trustworthy friend, The Blazing Black Dragon, Alatreon, whose name was Obsidian. Though when Stormcaller had made it to the cave Obsidian called home, he was nowhere to be found.
Obsidian, on occasion could be described as extremely serious. That is an understatement. He would do anything he could to get stronger to protect the Fatalis family. If anyone insulted, hurt or stole from the Fatalis family. The pain he would put them through would be indescribable. He's one of the smartest dragons Stormcaller has ever met, but Obsidian has absolutely no sense of humor. Obsidian would follow every rule, every order, to the extreme.
If Obsidian were told to wait outside a cave while Stormcaller went inside, he would guard that cave with his life. But Obsidian had toned down the seriousness quiet a bit in the few myriad he had known Stormcaller. So what ever had made Obsidian leave his cave after Stormcaller had told every remaining monster, "From now on, stay in the shadows. Only reveal yourself if yours or another monsters life is endangered, or if the lives of hundreds of dragons are at stake, or if I give the order. And even then, don't do anything too crazy. The time of monsters may soon come to an end, but an opportunity will come and we will show our selves to the world once more." must have been pretty important.
Apparently, the day Stormcaller had been turned into a dragon. The queen of the SandWings had died, Queen Oasis. This had caused her three daughters, Blister, Blaze, and Burn, to start a war over who would become the next queen. If Stormcaller's grandfather were still alive, he would have smited them all down, then have Dawn, the Ahtal-ka, choose a new queen for the SandWings, and if they didn't like the new queen, he would have killed them too. Stormbringer would not have allowed a war over something so stupid.
If there were more monsters alive, Stormcaller would have done the same. But their numbers are dwindling. There's only about six hundred and thirty monsters scattered across all of Pyrrhia, each one staying hidden in the everyday lives of dragons. That may seem like a large number, but when there's only two or three of each species of monsters, there isn't that many left.
In the last eighteen years Stormcaller made sure to secretly check in on the Elder Dragons living on the east side of the continent, especially the ones that were know to cause trouble, but he didn't let them know they were being watched. And he didn't dare go to the western side, it was too open.
Stormcaller looked up at the sky, recalling everything that had happened recently. The first few years he was a dragon, and before he was going to tell Obsidian of his situation, he tried to figure out what had happened only to be met with a dead end everywhere he went. He even tried looking into that cursed magic, only to be met with another dead end. He was tempted to ask his two most trusted advisors about his situation but decided against it. Even though they could see glimpses into the future and give slightly cryptic messages like NightWings (abilities Stormcaller did not possess), they were bound to accidentally slip up and every monster would know what had happened to their king, and things would only go down hill from there.
