Part Two: Into The Sky Kingdom
The queen's prisoners were kept in the sky.
Metal chain kept him of the rock platform he was on. It was a large stone pillar with platform on the very top. That's where the prisoners were. His wings were bound. If someone managed to escape the bindings, they wouldn't be able to get down without dying. To most it would be a horrible, painful, bone-shattering death. Stormcaller didn't know if he could survive the fall or not.
There was barely enough room to lie down. There were no walls, and no roof. Stormcaller managed find the NightWing dragonet Clay knew. It was easy due to him being the only other NightWing here. He never found out his name before they were captured. He was able to find Clay easily since his pillar was right next to his. But he couldn't find Tsunami or the golden SandWing.
On the second day, an unusual SkyWing was flying loops around the prisoner around Clay. She looked about seven or eight; her horns were full size, but her teeth were still sharp and white, not yet blunted or stained. Veins of gold ran through her glimmering copper wings, and smoke seemed to be coming from her scales as well as her mouth. Her eyes were a blazing blue color, different from the normal yellow or orange color.
She threw something at Clay. Something dead and bloody and charred. To his surprise the SkyWing started laughing. "Oh, gross," she said. "Too bad the barracks aren't down there. The guards seriously deserve that."
Stormcaller's rock-tower was one of about a few hundred spires, spread out in a huge circle. Nearly every one had a dragon trapped at the top, like him. Like him, they each had there wings bound and they were chained to the top of the tower. In the center of the circle was a bowl of rock, like an empty lake with sand at the bottom and sheer walls. Above the walls were rows of benches, balconies, and caves for spectators to look down into the arena.
At the bottom of his tower, there was only bare rock. But from up here he could see the heart of the Sky Kingdom stretched across the mountaintop. Queen Scarlet's vast palace was carved into the grey-and-black rocks of the peak. half of it was inside tunnels and caves while the other half was open to the sky and bristling with defenses.
The defenses might be able to take out a group of dragons, but wouldn't even stand a chance against a group of Raths, let alone an Ahtal-Ka, Gogmazios, or Lao-Shan Lung. The three monsters known for destroying human fortresses. Tearing apart something like this would be easy for them. Gogmazios would probably struggle the most out of the three due to being extremely weak to fire. These dragons wouldn't even stand a chance against a Lao-Shan Lung, it would be pathetically easy, and if Ahtal-ka got her claws of some weapons. Things would only go down hill for the dragons from there. But sadly, all three of those monsters were on the other side on the continent, Lao-Shan Lung being the closest. She lived in the southern part of the claws of the clouds mountains, but Stormcaller didn't know where.
Stormcaller turned his attention to the dragons flying around the castle. They were digging and blasting out new palace extensions until they were covered in stone dust and dirt and looked no brighter than MudWings.
The war had slashed this kingdom with sharp talons. Stormcaller spotted collapsed towers, scorch marks along several walls, and a ravine half full of dragon bones. Even as he watched, he saw two SkyWings carry the corpse of a crimson dragon and dump it into the ravine. They set fire to the body and hovered for a moment over the smoke, their wings brushing against each other. They then wheeled and flew away, leaving the body to blaze down into ashes and singed bone.
Far off to the east, Stormcaller could see the blue, glittering line of the sea. Stormcaller scratched and the thin wire that was wrapped around his neck. the wires stretched from him to the necks and legs of other prisoners, who all had them as well. One went to his right, to one leg of a fuming, pale sand colored SandWing, who was pacing around causing the wires to shake. The other wire was attached to Clay, and the other three were attacked to three other dragons somewhere across the web of wires.
