Sleeping without dreaming

Sleep and not rest, sleep and not dream,A restless state, in which we seem,To be lost in a world that's not our own,A place where our fears and anxieties have grown.

In this state, we toss and turn,Our minds racing, with no concern,For the peace that sleep should bring,Instead, our thoughts are left to sting.

The darkness of night brings no relief,For our minds are filled with grief,And the weight of our troubles seems to grow,In this endless cycle of sleepless woe.

The morning light brings no respite,For we are left to face the day's plight,With tired eyes and a heavy heart,And the knowledge that sleep is but a false start.

For in the darkness of the night,We long for rest, and for things to be right,But sleep and not rest, sleep and not dream,Is a state that leaves us feeling unseen. So let us pray for peaceful sleep,And for our minds to find release,From the worries that keep us awake,And the fears that cause our hearts to ache.
