11~Promise

I deeply apologize for the late update! So sorry my lovelys! 

In my sleep of some sort, I keep hearing something. I continue to hear a boy crying to me, saying he doesn't want me to die. I holds my hands often, I want to hold them back but I can't. As much as I want to open my eyes I can't. It dreads me with curiosity to see who this is. Yeah I know it may be Tanjiro but that isn't confirmed. I want to wake up. Why can't I? 

Tanjiro POV 

She'd been out for 4 weeks now. At this point, I don't even know if she's awake at this point. Yeah, I know her injuries her bad.  As she was thrown in the air, she was stabbed and she broke two of her ribs. Her scent of fresh rain is fading, now it's like she's not even there. In the meantime, I've been training harder and going on missions. She wouldn't like me just sitting around and waiting for her, right? I went on a mission to annihilate a demon up west, she has been eating children in the village. This brings us to where I am now. I walked along the path with the sun setting in front of me. I watched it set as I continued my journey. It reminded me of this time with Y/N. 

"Tanjiro-san, we gotta hurry!!" Y/N exclaimed to me as she held my hand and ran up the hill. "Where are you taking me???" I asked her as we came to an immediate stop. She then pointed to the sky in front of us. "Look!" She said. I looked and the sky was a beautiful sunset, as if it was painted to perfection. "Wow." I gasped in a whisper. "I know. It's beautiful. It isn't always like this." Y/N spoke, shutting her eyes as she slowly relaxed. She still held my hand, it felt like they fit together perfectly. I squeezed her hand gently, wanting time to just stop. "Tanjiro-kun, can you promise me something?" Y/N began speaking out of the blue. "Yeah, of course." 

"Can you promise me you won't ever leave me, like in death wise." 

That was a big promise. I will die one day, but I'll keep the promise, it's worth being with her. "I promise your that I'll never leave you. Dead or alive." I held both of her hands in my own as I spoke, looking into her E/C eyes with hope. "Thank you." 

Y/N...That was my promise, it should've been yours. You should've been the one to be alive right now. If I could only go back in time. I arrived at the village, only to be greeted by an women, who had tears rushing down her face like rivers after the storm. "A-are you with the Demon Slayer Corps?!" She asked rushed. "Yes, is there something wrong-" I smelt the scent of blood, it came from a house nearby. "M-my daughter, she's not dead but something's wrong!" She exclaimed, dragging me to the house where the scent of blood came from. There sat a young girl, who's skin turned pale and eyes red. "Ma'am, I want you to evacuate, get as many people away from this house. Your daughter has turned into a demon. I'm sorry." 

The woman gasped, then cried before running out. I looked at the daughter, who was now gone. She had escaped through the window. I jumped out the window, and followed the scent of her. Her scent smelled of nightmares. Don't ask how I know that. I entered a clearing in the forest, and spotted her. "Water Breathing, first form, Water Surface Slash!" 

And off went her head. I don't think she was the strongest demon in the world, she was still vulnerable. As I put my sword away, my kasugai crow had landed on my shoulder. "Hey, what's up?" I asked him, petting him gently. "Tanjiro Kamado, Y/N L/N has awoken, Y/N L/N has awoken!" The crow spoke. What. I immediately started running, running back to the Butterfly Mansion. I didn't care if I was tired, I didn't care if I wanted to stop, all I wanted was to see Y/N. I looked up at the sky while running, hoping I'll see Y/N's smile when I see her. 

By the time I reached the Butterfly Mansion, it was already sunrise, yes I was gone for that long. I ran into the Butterfly Mansion, before being stopped by Sumi, Kiyo, and Naho. "Mr. Tanjiro? Why are you in such a rush?" Kiyo asked. "I- I-" I began without any breath in my lungs. "I came to see Y/N, my kasugai crow reported she was awake." I panted. "Ah yeah, she did wake up yesterday. She's outside right now." Sumi said, pointing outside. "T-thank you Sumi, Naho, and Kiyo." I said, waving to them as I left. 

I immediately left to go outside, slamming open the door. The door revealed a H/C haired girl sitting on a bench, reading a book. I walked towards her and sat beside her. "Hello Y/N." I greeted casually. She looked at me before gasping and shock. "Tanjiro-kun?" She whispered, with her eyes slowly widening. "Yes darling?" I asked, placing my hand on her cheek. She immediately pulled me into a hug, dampening my uniform with her tears. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." She cried, gripping my haori. "Shh, it's okay." I hushed get, patting her back gently. "I missed you." I whispered, kissing her forehead. "I'm sorry, where are the others at?" She asked after calming down. "On a mission. We have another mission with Uzui-san soon, we might need you. The mission is a week or so from now." I said. "I'll join, I'll be fine." She said, fully determined. I hugged her shoulder, closing my eyes. "Promise me you won't get hurt again." I asked. "I promise."
