When Kaia began to wake up, she noticed she was chained to a wall in a dimly lit room. Her head was throbbing from being knocked out. She looked down to see someone had dressed her for the ceremony.
"Ah, my dear Katsumi," Hiroshi said from the dark corner of the room. "Your Father was too cautious for his own good it seems. Hiring those ninja turned what could have been a beautiful loving ceremony with a tragic ending, to a hostage situation with the added deaths of three leaf shinobi."
Kaia began jerking around on the chains trying to break free.
"It's no use, Princess. You will be released in time. You mustn't be late for the wedding, after all. And then your date with destiny. Do not worry, you will have your new husband to die by your side."
Angrily trying to pull herself free she questioned him,"You'd kill your own son? And what if I refuse to go through with the wedding?"
A smile ran across his face, "Oh it will happen before the wedding begins, but you WILL be there, or I will unleash a war on your land the likes of which they've never seen! If you were not willing to die for this alliance, you would not have come to us in the first place. As far as my son goes, he has served his purpose. Before he becomes the figurehead of a revolt in this land, you will become one for yours. Your Father will send the troops I need to avenge your death, and I will squash this resistance before it can make any devastating moves."
This guy was a piece of work, and Kaia's rage was building.
"The resistance isn't the problem, you are." She snarled.
"HAH, but your Father won't know that. You see, I've hired my own ninja. From the sound village. They will take care of everything, starting with those leaf village fools."
"I wouldn't underestimate them, Hiroshi, they are strong." She said proudly.
Again, a sly look appeared on his face. "That's why I poisoned them. No doubt you saw it affecting them before you were rendered unconscious. They are weakened, left with little to no chakra. It will take hours for them to work the poison through their systems, but they'll be dead long before that happens. They're all fighting for their lives as we speak. And not doing well I might add."
Kaia's face flooded with worry for her friends, hoping they'd still be strong enough and wishing she could do something to help.
Her chakra stores weren't in fighting order as is, but she'd be willing to give everything she had to keep them safe. Before he left the room, Hiroshi looked at her one last time, and laughed. He seemed so satisfied with himself. It left Kaia disgusted. She hung there, suspended from the wall, feeling defeated. She should have been more cautious. She should have found a way to fight back.
As she was lost in all her self pity she heard the door open. Standing in the doorway stood Takahiro, a saddened expression across his face. She feared what he may do, but all he did was stare.
"Who are you?" he asked.
She figured there was nothing left to lose at this point and he had the chance to tell Hiroshi, but obviously never did if Hiroshi still thought she was Katsumi.
"I am Kaia Hanako, of the hidden leaf village."
Kaia Hanako of the hidden leaf village. That was the first time she formally claimed the village as her home.
"Are you a shinobi as well?"
She continued to answer his questions.
"No. But as you have seen, I am trained in many things, some combat is included."
