Janet [Jatrina Story]

Katrinas pov:

Janet just stared into space drinking her wine, the room was silent. I decided to look around and ask where the bathroom was. She let me know and I got up to look, her hallway was just white and really empty basic wall trim painted white. I walked down the hall and I heard the kids.

"Yeah I don't see my daddy anymore, mummy moved us away! She says it is safer" I heard Riley tell the boys

My heart dropped into my stomach knowing Janet lied, it must have been  serious. I continued down the hall and I entered the bathroom. It was small painted a pale blue with a window above the Sink with toothbrushes and toothpaste, to the right was a small bathtub with the shower attached, it had a white almost see through shower curtain and shampoo, conditioner and body wash lined up the side. Janet had a small house but it seemed perfect for the two of them. I got really curious about what Riley was telling the boys, so I snuck out of the bathroom into the hallway. I stood by the bedroom door it was ajar.

"I'm not sure why I don't see my daddy, it's just something my mum shoves off! Where's your daddy? Is he at home?" Riley said as if it was normal

"Urm our father...Russia still he is still there" Misha replied

"Never met him though my mother has always raised us alone" Sergi added

I had been gone for 5 minutes I had to get back, I saw Janet in the kitchen. She had been making food, she had made bagels. I walked in the kitchen and stood by the radiator. Her kitchen was a small square, it had a small fridge next to the oven it was under a counter. There was a window looking out at the garden just above the sink full of dishes, her cupboards were painted off white with grey marble countertops, the walls being a light gray with a white tile going across the back, a black oven and a washing machine next to the sink. The backdoor was locked with the keys on the counter next to it. Janet turned around and just stared at me.

"Oh hey there Katrina, call the children I made some bagels" Janet said sniffling

I yell for the kids while following her into the dining room. Janet placed the plates on the table then grabbed her phone and went through to the living room, it was small with a TV and 2 sofas. I followed her in and started the conversation.

"Heard about the new bar in town and heard it's really good wanna go next Friday?" I said enthusiastically

"Wait no I never heard, we should totally go! I'll call chad" she replied excitedly with a big grin

"Chad? Who? New man? Do I need to knock him out?" I asked worried

"Riley's uncle" Janet replied laughing

I just looked at my phone and pretended to be busy Janet broke the silence.

"Chad can take them today, all 3!" Janet mentioned

"Da" is all I could say back

I wasn't ready for going drinking, I was in my black ripped jeans and a baggy black jumper. I didn't want to dim Janet's light by saying no, Janet looks over at me and gives a smile. Confused I smile back, the boys come running through to the living room and ask about this chad guy.

"Mother who is this chad guy?" Мisha asked

"Riley's uncle, у вас есть пейджер, если нужно" I replied mixing in russian to make sure Janet didn't know [you have the pager if needed]

The boys nodded their heads and left following Riley back out into the kitchen.

"Why the russian? Or is it like top secret" Janet laughed

"Making sure they don't forget the language of their people you never know when we get caught and need to flee back" I replied swiftly

"What? Caught? Who? When?" Janet questioned

"Joking" I said laughing back

Janet just looked away concerned and continued to talk about the mothers of the daycare:

Carol: Christian mother, her husband is in jail possibly dating Amy the daycare lady. Has three kids: buddy, texis and Diamond

Courtney: Chad's Ex-girlfriend, influencer, has a daughter diamond but some spy killed her so her daughter was adopted by carol

Karen: has a son hunter, unsure if she has a man never seen him ever, a big Karen and nobody really likes her

They are the Important ones, Karen must have been the mother I ran into. She was a right Karen about it I don't like her at all and never will.

I ordered everyone a McDonald's as a treat before me and Janet went to the new bar, the kids all gathered around the table grabbing their food.

"Mother why the junk food?" Sergie questioned

"Da I thought you said it gives cancer" Misha added on

"It's a treat night now hush" I replied angerd

The boys ran off with their food without talking back. I saw Janet stare at me in utter shock that I was like that.

"Russian parenting" I told her

She just grabbed her food and sat down to eat before Riley yelled into the dining room.

"MUMMMMMM I WANT FROZENNNNNN" Riley yelled

Janet was about to stand up and do what she asked

"Riley no, you can eat In silence and talk to Misha and Sergie" I said firmly

Riley didn't dare answer back. Janet was just more shocked at me, I was just doing her a favour as Im not letting Riley walk all over her.

Riley had packed her stuff to go to her uncle chads, we had to run back to my place to get the boys sorted out. Janet offered to drive me home but I told her I can take my car so I don't have to walk back in the morning. She got Riley in her car while I sorted my boys out, I told them to page me if anything happens and I'll send the family on him. The boys agreed and showed me the pager. I got in my car checking if Janet was ready to follow, I left her drive way going down the empty streets full of sad looking bungalows all the same brick with a slanted roof with grey tiles and the same boring garage. I went back to my home making sure I didn't lose Janet behind me, she had never been to my place before and today was the first.

After a 20 minute drive we pulled onto my street, the boys were talking about doing den building and having the best den. I taught them how to make a den out of anything they have on hand as we never know when we need to flee the area and hide in a Forrest. I pulled onto my driveway and waited for Janet to follow.

A/N: the other story I'm doing is getting worked on!!!! I'm just double working on it and I'm just going through a "creator block" on that chapter and I'm overcoming illness :)
