Katrinas pov:

Life was hard, I didn't have my girlfriend anymore. I watched her die, I watched her take her final breath, I watched her do it, I held her lifeless body. I made sure I gave her the best funeral, I decided to bury her with the bracelet her daughter made her. I put her in a pretty dress with my name written inside Katrina + Janet = Jatrina forever she will be stuck with me, her dress was a beautiful silky sage green one I bought her, with thin straps, a long flowy skirt and a beautiful black ribbon that ties around the waist. I had a bouquet of roses as it was her favourite flower, I always keep a rose in my house to rember her with her little corner. I keep all the photos of us two, the children and us as a family. I kept her memory alive, I never let her slip my mind. I followed her wishes...

The past!

"Your honour, Riley has been attending daycare with multiple bruises, cuts and injuries she never had before. Her mother was abused by this man causing her to leave him and every day she tells me she wants to come home when I see her at the daycare" I explained looking over at Rodger every now and then

"Let's hear the defendants side" the judge said turning to Rodger

"She is a playful child, always getting into stuff. She just must miss her mother who clearly couldn't look after her as she killed her self later that week. I never hurt her mother" Rodger lied

"Katrina do we have any evidence?" The judge said to me

"Yes we do actually, I have photos, documents and even Riley talking about what her dad does" I awnserd pulling out a folder and my phone with recordings

I took the evidence to the judge who immediately looked over it with a look of supprise. The photos contained, photos of injuries on Riley and Janet and recordings of  Janet explaining what happened between her and Rodger, Riley begging to go home, Riley saying what her dad did to her and Janet talking about what happened that day.

"Care to explain these Rodger?" The judge asked in pure shock

"It's a lie, I never did any of that" Rodger yelled getting mad

"Katrina, you officially have custody of this little girl, case dismissed" the judge said putting the hammer down

Past over!

I got full custody of Janet's little girl, I felt I had a part of Janet back. I lost Janet but I managed to get her shitty ex husband in jail and I got her little girl back. We sold mine and Janet's house and bought a house just like carols, out in the woods and on the edge of town. All three children got their own rooms and a huge back garden to run about in and play all their games. I never tried to replace Janet in Riley's life, I kept her mother's memory alive as much as possible.

This was all 10 years ago now, I never got in another relationship as I only loved my Janet and I got therapy for what I saw and to cope with the loss. The twins are 15 and Riley is 14, almost 15. Riley has always been grateful that I took her in when she needed it and I never tried to replace her mother, the boys protect Riley so much they don't let her date without interrogating the girl. Riley is a spitting image of her mother, beautiful ocean blue eyes with beautiful light blond hair that falls just below her shoulders when curled it reaches her shoulders like her mother. She very luckily still has the toque her mother gave to her as a young girl, she keeps it safe as a last part of her mum she will ever have left. Misha and Sergie love Riley they have always made her feel safe and included, even when visiting Ingrid they taught her russian to communicate. Riley now calls me aunty katrina and her mum is still mummy. I will forever be grateful for my family even if it's missing Janet, we are happy and I know Janet is watching over us...
