"Yes, I was there. That part was hidden for Spider. I didn't want him to know I was the reason he had no father. I wanted to also...protect him. " He stood up suddenly, anger on his face. "I don't understand how you both can forgive her so easily! She lied to us for our whole life! Dad would be ashamed."

Liel stood up next frowning. "How dare you speak for him! Our father is everything but ashamed of her! She is our mother! Show her some respect."

"And how would you know Liel!'' he fired back at her.

"Because I can see his spirit."

Liel's POV

Everyone stopped fighting and looked at me. All of them with a different expression. "What do you mean you can see him, Liel?" Naya'il asked me  in a quiet voice.

I felt my hands get sweaty. "I can see the dead...." I whispered back. "Since when!?How long have you been hiding this from us!" Tuskey asked in a louder voice. "Since I was five! It's the reason I was teased so much! People saw me talking to the air and thought I was crazy! So after the incident with the mud I shut out all the spirits and ignored them. And since, my life has been better. " I was angry just at the fact that my brother dared to yell at me over something that was gifted to me. Not him. I didn't need to tell him if I didn't want to!

"Liel, you were blessed with a gift from Eywa. You should not be hiding it you should be using it..." My mom stepped forward placing a hand on my arm. "Your father... When did you see him?" She whispered, her eyes watering. "I only saw him once or twice technically, when I was  first born he told me he was there with you! Watching over us all. And the second time was the coming of age hunt..."

I remember it liked it was yesterday. I was only fourteen years old when it happened.

Flashback

Today is the Annual Coming of Age Hunt we're all children age fourteen would go hunt and had to bring back prey to be considered part of the people. It was very important that you caught an animal especially if your parent was an important part of the village. Neyetam was the chief son so him catching something big was expected from him, and then there was us three. Our father was the past chief meaning we also had a lot of pressure on us, not to mention he was the best hunter ever. We had a lot to live up to. "Liel, don't forgot your head piece!" I smiled at my mom taking the headpiece she made specifically for this day.

She handed me my headpiece helping me adjust it. "Beautiful, just like you." she smiled kissing my cheek. "Be brave my oare....I believe in you...you can do this..." I smiled at her. She knew how i struggled with killing another living being. I felt as if that creature that was a brother, son, daughter, sister, mother, or father was losing someone from them and i didn't want to be that reason for their loss. "I will try to make you proud mother."
