Chapter 13

Nashi's POV

'The first 40 from this round will be qualified to participate in the second round!', Midnight called out.

'On to the second event! Are you dying to know what it is?'. The screen behind Midnight buzzed for a few seconds.

'UP NEXT IS THE CAVALRY BATTLE!'

The crowd cheered, while the students started murmuring. I swear blood was coming out my ears this very second. There is only so much a pair of ears can take.

'So we have to team up?', Tsuyu said.

'Exactly! Participants have to group up into 2 to 5 participants and get into a horse-and-rider formation. The rules are the same as any cavalry battle, but...', Midnight trailed. 'Each of you is awarded points based on your rank. So the point value of your teams depends on your members!'

Midnight smiled. 'The last rank will be awarded 5 points and the second last rank will be awarded 10 points...however, the first ranker is worth 10 MILLION points!'

Suddenly the aura of the students was directed to Midoriya. The poor guy was sweating. 

To think they'll give a million more points to a first rank...

Suddenly I felt super happy that I ended up 6th. Class 1-A was super scary, who would know what the other people from the other classes would do? They probably target Midoriya too...

Hmmm...

I rushed towards Midoriya. 'Midoriya! Want to team-woah!!', I flinched when Midoriya's eyes turned into a waterfall. 'DRAGNEEL-SAN!!'

'Can I join too?', Uraraka came behind me. Then Midoriya started to sob louder. 'Both of you want to join my team? Why? Everyone's going to come after me!'

' Teaming up with a friend just feels right!', Uraraka said. She smiled so brightly that I had to shield my eyes. Did she get born from the sunshine, or something?

'But what about you, Nashi-chan? I thought you'd join your brother or form your own team?' Uraraka asked.

'Hmm? Nah. Iggy and I would always challenge each other since we were kids. Also, I'm in the 6th rank. If I want people to come and fight me, I might as well stick to a common target', I said. Midoriya and Uraraka sweatdropped. 'So your saying that want to pair up with me to pick up a fight?'

'Yeah...Why? Isn't that what we were supposed to do? Right now, finding allies is your top priority. No one else is going to join you just for the sake of friendship. They all have their own agendas.'

Both of them looked at me. Midoriya took a deep breath. 'You're right Dragneel-san. Now that we got both of your gravity and fire quirks...I have the perfect plan. We just need him...'

'If you mean Iida, the guy is already in a team', I pointed to the group formed by Todoroki. 'That guy is taking specific people in.'

They stared at me. 'What? I can hear them you know!'

'No...', Midoriya faltered. 'Hold on, I'll go get someone.'

Midoriya disappeared into the crowd within minutes. Uraraka started fidgeting a bit. 'Are you alright ?', I asked.

'Well...I kind of feel a bit embarrassed now that you told people won't just join with friends...'

I blinked. 'Ohh...Sorry about that ', I put my head down, sheepish. 'Mom told me I spoke too bluntly sometimes.'

Uraraka waved her hands. 'No. What you said was true, Nashi-san. Everyone's putting in their best effort to be the best. I am part of that race too. I shouldn't have to rely on people always.'
