The loud slamming of a door echoed through the house, alerting everyone that the smallest sister had made it to her room, and was now stewing in her anger. It was mutually decided between the two men that Diego was the one to face her, Klaus had never been good at serious conversations.
The man stands in front of her door, bringing his hand up to knock on the wooden door, bracing for whatever might be on the other side. It was times like this, though few and far between as they may be, Diego wished Five were still here.
The boy had always been able to calm her, to soothe her worries, and settle her frantic mind, it didn't take much effort either, a simple touch, a few words of understanding, a joke at the subject of her rage's expense, was all it took for him. She would be back to normal in mere moments.
It had been different after the boy disappeared. Her emotions became more erratic, her anger more easily tempted, but more than anything, a sadness had planted itself in her, its roots deep and unmoving.
Her sadness brought storms, literally, rain soaking the ground, and wind whipping through the trees, bringing the weak down to the ground, and figuratively, her sadness affecting the rest of them. The girl had once been a light, a silver lining, on hard days of training and after difficult missions. Their father became harsher with her, and in turn with the rest of them, her powers had gone haywire, her wings disappearing into her back, refusing to leave her, this was when the experiments began.
Releasing a sigh, he rapped his knuckles on the door, receiving no answer from the other side, pausing for a moment trying to decide what to say, "Rissy...it's me. Can I come in?"
Silence.
"Common Ris...It's just me." He offered, "Luthers a dick. He's crazy if he really thinks you would do that... no one else believes him. They're all worried about you."
More silence.
"Rissy, talk to me." He begs, "I need to make sure you're okay... if you don't talk to me, I'm coming in." He threatens.
He was met with more silence.
"I'm coming in..." he warns, "don't throw anything at me."
Opening the door, Diego is met with an empty room. Everything was exactly where she had left it. Moving further into the room, glances around, moving towards her window, and pushing it open, sticking his head out to check and see if she was hiding on her fire escape. Coming up empty, he closes the window and thinks about where she could be. The greenhouse...
Moving up the stairs to the roof, he opens the door to the greenhouse. The plants that still reside in it, had long since turned brown at the lack of attention shown to them.
"Rissy?" He calls, waiting for an answer from the small girl, again he is met with silence. Moving back through the door, closing it behind him, and moving down the stairs. Stopping in his and Klaus' rooms, finding them empty.
Moving downstairs he glances at their mother's paintings, seeing no one there either.
The kitchen? Also empty.
Ben's statue? Lonely.
He called their apartment. No answer.
Eudora, his last-ditch effort...hadn't seen her.
His little sister was nowhere to be found. His heart was racing in his chest. Where had she gone? Had Luther's words really driven her away? Wracking his brain for any location from their childhood she would have found solace in...
And then it hit him.
Spinning on his heel, he left the courtyard. Walking through the door, he retreated back up the stairs. Passing each one of his sibling's rooms, until he was at the green staircase, climbing them two at a time, he came to a stop in front of the door. This door, as far as he knows, hadn't been opened since Five's disappearance, it was the last place anyone would think to look for her.
