Julian Hayes

"I can't believe how fast rumors spread in this school. It hasn't been an hour since we announced this to Layla and Amelia," Alorah said in disbelief as she locked eyes with a couple of students in the hallway.

I let out a chuckle at how funny yet cute her reaction was. Nevertheless, she wasn't wrong. Words travel fast, and it depends on the quality of the information.

"Well, what can you say? You are dating the guy that every girl wants to be with." I shrugged before stopping on my track when I couldn't hear familiar footsteps beside me. I turned around to find Alorah's mouth twisting in disgust as we locked gazes, "What?"

"I'm starting to regret that this happened," she said, pointing at herself and then at me.

"Oh, come on. You haven't seen the best side of me yet. I promise you that you will fall for me again," I walked toward Alorah and wrapped my arm around her shoulder, chuckling at our banter.

"I can't with you," Alorah groaned. As we made our way to the library, I heard a familiar voice echoed through the hallway.

"Hayes!"

So close! Just one more class!

"Hey, Jeff!" I turned in the opposite direction and smiled, releasing my arm from around her.

As I watched their movements, sweat began to form on my hands. They were mad. Hella mad. I can guess why.

As they got closer, I grabbed Alorah's hand and dragged her behind me, hoping they didn't recognize her.

Damn it! Why do they have to show up now? I haven't prepared myself to face them yet, and now I have to find a way to get us both out of here in one piece.

"Max. Caesar." I greeted them, acknowledging their presence before settling my gaze on Jeff, "What's up?"

Jeff's brows creased as he stared at me, and then his eyes moved slightly to the side. Others might think his eyes were still on me, but I know he was focused on someone else.

"What's up? I should be the one asking you that. What's with the rumors we've been hearing? You dating some chick now?" Jeff asked, taking a step forward.

Every time I saw his face, it irritated me. We weren't even that far apart in height, and he thought he could intimidate me by trying to tower over me? Hilarious.

"Yeah. I thought it was time for me to settle down, in a way," I responded with a forced smile.

Jeff cast a confused glance at his goons before returning his gaze to me, not forgetting to roll his eyes.

The man dared to roll his freaking eyes at me. Oh, I want to smash his head onto a locker door and tell him off, but I know I have to control myself.

"No problem with settling down, Hayes," Jeff said, shrugging at me.

"Then what's the problem?" I wondered, raising an eyebrow.

"The fact that you're dating a goodie-two-shoes. Seriously? You're falling that low?" He finished with a scoff.

What the absolute f—

"The only problem here, Jeff, is your ego," My eyes widened as I felt a hand on my arm, pushing me slightly to the side. I turned my attention to Alorah, who had a serious expression.

"Alorah–"

"Let me handle this, Julian," she whispered, only glancing at me briefly before returning her gaze to Jeff and the rest.

"Oh? My ego?" Jeff grinned amusingly, "Care to share, sweetheart?"

"You did not f–cking say that," I thought, and I was about to lunge at Jeff when Alorah stepped in front of me.

I was pissed at the tone he was using toward her. Besides meeting Alorah and her parents, I was angry at everything that had happened. Above all that, I was pissed at Jeff for using the nickname her parents had given her.

"My pleasure," I could hear the amusement laced in her tone as she stepped forward. Not wanting the idea of her getting too close to Jeff, I grabbed her wrist to stop her from taking another step. Thankfully, she didn't resist. "You know, I wonder. Why would you poke your nose into other people's business? Goodie two-shoes? Falling that low? Do you think that if Julian dates that kind of person, it will affect the group's image?"

A crowd began to form around us as we witnessed the battle between the beast and the beauty. If you haven't figured it out, Jeff is the beast. I'd puke if I referred to him as the beauty.

"I'm also curious why all three of you were looking for Julian and chasing him down the hallway whenever he wasn't with you. Whenever you guys make an appearance, Julian is always present," Alorah pointed out, which erupted in a couple of murmurs around us. "It looks to me that without him, you guys would be nothing. You go around acting like the tough guys. Yet, you couldn't go a day without him being absent."

Well, what can I say? I am amazing.

And my girlfriend was an amazing person if she could make Jeff speechless. She wasn't wrong, though. Jeff wasn't really a great actor. He sucked at being a bully or whatever he was trying to portray.

Max and Caesar exchanged glances, possibly embarrassed by what had just occurred. Jeff, on the other hand, has displayed a wide range of emotions in the span of 5 seconds.

Another thing that people don't know about him is that he is weak at arguments. His mind goes blank when someone hits him with the truth, and he can't think of a comeback that would leave him in an awkward state. He is, however, skilled at putting the blame on others for their wrongdoing, as he did to me.

"I also want to add that you guys were doing horribly with all the bad boy personas and etcetera," Alorah commented to the three of them before switching her gaze to me. Ok, I know my acting was terrible, but you didn't have to throw me under the bus, "So stop dragging my boyfriend into this childish game of yours. Shame on you for tarnishing our grade level's images."

And with that, my day of being the well-known bad boy in this school ended with only a few months until graduation. Man, if I knew it would be easy to have a confrontation with Jeff, I would have done it years ago. It was somewhat embarrassing that my girlfriend had to fight my battle, but I didn't feel upset about it, seeing how strong she had become.

"Before I forget, if you don't report yourself to our principal for wronging Julian because of your misbehaving conduct with using cigarettes and having a female student with you guys in an empty classroom, I would do it for you! Mark my words. Don't think I forgot how you guys used him as your scapegoat. Man up and own your mistakes," Alorah scolded, turning around and leading me to the library.

Dang, girl...
