{Hey guys! Caly here! We're going to start off in 1st person, as will usually be the rest of this book. It will be Cassandra's POV. This chapter, however, is going to start out as Cassandra's Dream.}
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was falling, into a pit. Screams echoed from within. Deeper.. Deeper... I couldn't see the bottom, there was no light. But I ached all over. I screamed, in both pain and fear. Falling further and further until...
THUMP.
I opened my eyes, slowly. I had fallen out of bed, and was now on the light wooden floor of my grey, lavender, and black bedroom. My right side hurt, where it hit the floor. I started to sit up, stretching my arms and yawning. The clock by my head read 5:00 am.
"Ugh..." I muttered, rubbing my head and standing up. On my desk was a folded outfit that I had picked out last night: Skinny jeans rolled up to a couple inches above the ankle, a grey and lavender patterned tank top, a white sweater to go over the tank top, and a pair of sandals. These sandals in particular were my favorite part of the outfit. They were styled like Ancient Greek ones, with bands going up along the ankle. I put on mascara, eyeliner, chap stick, and did my hair. I went for curls today, so my chocolate brown hair bounced slightly, near my shoulders.
I drank the rest of the water, picking up my black iPhone 6. Nothing new, really. Slinging my back pack over my arm, I walked downstairs to find my little sister Sophie and my mom eating breakfast. Sophie was eating Lucky Charms cereal, it she was only eating the marshmallows.
"Sophie, you silly goose! You have to eat the cereal, too!" I poked her stomach, and she giggled. I took my place at the table, eating a bagel. Looking at the clock, I realized it was 6:30. I slung my backpack back over my shoulder, saying "Bye Sophie! Bye Mom!"
I ran out the door, finishing my bagel. I ran onto the bus, and sat by my best friend Nicole.
"Hey." She smiled at me. I smiled back. "Hi. So, how was your weekend?"
Once the bus pulled up to our school, Rockwater High. I was known as a popular girl, so more of my friends met me as I stepped off of it with Nicole. We shooed everyone away lightly, and walked into the building. I smiled, and said goodbye to Nicole. "I'll see you in second period." I waved, and walked to my locker, number 1255. I twisted the bronze colored knob to the left, and landed on number 13. Again to the right, landing the arrow on number 41. I pushed the knob down, and swiftly pulled the door open. I grabbed a blue flower and yellow floral notebook for my first period class, science. My teacher, Mr Weichstrom, was pretty nice, but a bit crazy, almost. Some students suspected he was gay. He had choppy raven black hair, covering his eyebrows. He also had big clear glasses, which fogged up a lot. Mr. Weichstrom usually wore colored skinny jeans and a sweater. Don't get me wrong, he's only in his twenties. But my science teacher is pretty odd.
I pushed the thoughts out of my mind, setting down my stuff at an empty desk. Mr. Weichstrom was writing on the board, so I took out my phone and texted Nicole. "Hey," It read. "I'm bored."
Nicole responded, "Hi. Me too, but I gtg." I shrugged and turned off my phone, turning my attention to the board. Something about tides today. Ugh.
{We're going to skip to Second Period}
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><
During second period, I was sitting next to Nicole. All that was happening was a boring lecture on stuff we already knew, so Nicole and I were passing notes. It went kind of like this:
C-Truth or dare?
N-Dare.
C-I dare you to pull Taylor's hair after class.
N-Fine. But I'm getting you back, Cassandra.
Taylor was a girl from our class that hated us, and we hated her. She was really unpopular, but had already started drinking and smoking! She was spoiled rotten, as her family was very rich. But so far, Nicole and I were ahead of her in the game of high school.
"Miss McLagan, have you been paying attention?" My head snapped back up to my teacher peering over my desk, glaring. "Er-Yes, of course." I answered. "Good." He kept glaring. "Then I hope you will be able to inform us on what we just covered. I sat up straighter, confident. "You were explaining to us about how Roman culture and beliefs influenced both history and modern day life." "Very good, Miss McLagan. Class is dismissed." The bell rang, and I walked out of there as fast as I could.
The rest of the day went smoothly. My in geography, the teacher complemented my handwriting. Nicole never got around to pulling Taylor's hair. Lunch was.... Well, lunch was like any school lunch. Finally, the final bell rang. I walked back to my locker, twisted the knob, and retrieved my backpack, along with a few notebooks, binders, and folders. I put them all into the back pack, zipping it shut. I tucked my phone into my back pocket, slung the back pack over my shoulders, and walked outside the school. Bus number 213, my bus, sat waiting outside the school. I smiled at the bus driver when I climbed on, for she liked me. Her bus was the only bus I knew that was spotless.
Nicole waved an arm at me, calling "Cassandra! Cassandra!" As usual, I walked down the bus aisle and took my seat near the popular kids.
The bus pulled to a stop along my driveway. I walked outside, and fished my house keys out from the back pack. I put them in the keyhole, and turned the knob. The door swung open without a catch, leading into the empty house.
