'So, a beautiful boy tried to murder you?' my best friend, Emily, asked. We get shushed by the librarian. I grab my law textbook and put it upright in front of us, while whispering back. 'No, he asked for my number.' She shrugs her shoulder. 'Potato, potáto.' The librarian comes up to us. 'If I catch you girls taking once again. I will kick you out.' I look at the book in front of me. Betrayer. Why couldn't you have been a sound proof barrier, because that was certainly what I had expected you to be. I start working on my beginning of the year essay. Some bullshit assignment about the romans and the justice system they enforced. I tried to put the words on the page, which I was usually really good at but now all I could think about was Joshua. Pathetic, I know. I met him once and now I'm drooling all over him. That's what pretty boys do to me. Although, I'm not sure if I can call him a boy since he did seem older than me. This isn't that new to me, to be honest. I'm always the youngest everywhere. It's because I skipped a grade. Nothing impressive, but I just did one year of kindergarten instead of two. I figured I was just too good at making puzzles. I didn't even get a diploma for tying my shoes. Whenever I tell someone that, they ask if I'm even able to tie my shoes. No, I just started my second year of Law and Economics, but tying my shoes is just too hard for me. 'Did he text you yet?' Emily asked. I shake my head. 'I hope he does. I want to see a picture, so I can drool all over him with you.' 'That's it, you are out of here girls.' Emily and I pick up our books. 'She needs to get laid.' I snort. We walk out of the building. 'Should we go to a coffee shop?' 'So we can feed your caffeine addiction any further, Hazel? Definitely not. This shit's not healthy. Maybe you need to get laid.' I furrow my brows. 'I got laid like three weeks ago.' 'Yeah, with you ex honey. Whom you didn't love anymore. That doesn't count. Besides, you've never orgasmed with the guy.' I slap her on her shoulder. 'Emily, talk louder will you. I think the guys across the street didn't hear you.' 'Oh I'm sorry. You've never orgasmed with the guy,' she yells. I started walking faster. 'Wait for me, it's not fair you're so tall.' 'Well, perhaps that's because I don't embarrass my friends.' She laughs. 'I'm sorry, but seriously I can't believe you faked it. Multiple times,' she whispered. I run my hands through my hair. 'I know, it was so stupid. I just didn't want him to feel bad after it just didn't happen for so long.' 'Now, I'm supposed to be the embarrassed friend. You would seriously put that over your own pleasure, when you don't know where the relationship's going? What if you'd married the guy and you'd just never orgasm your whole life? That's why people cheat, you know.' I laugh. 'It's stupid, I know. I shouldn't have done it. Sorry, we can't all have fabulous one night stands with guys, whose dicks are over 10 inches.' Suddenly, my phone starts ringing. Emily snatches it and looks at the caller id. 'It's unknown,' she screams out. 'It's Joshua.' I roll my eyes and pick up the phone. 'Hi, this is Hazel. Talk to me.' I can hear him smile through the phone. 'Hi, Hazel. Joshua speaking. Am I calling at a good time?' 'Great time.' He smiles again. Is it weird to say you can hear someone smiling? 'I'm sorry, if I'm coming on too strong but I couldn't keep thinking about you.' 'How could you not It's hard to forget someone, who screamed at you.' He chuckles. 'Yes, that too.' 'I'm going to stop your right there, Josh. Can I call you Josh? I'm going to call you Josh. If you tell me I'm beautiful one more time, I might die so unless you want to make that murderer thing come true, I'd shut up right now.' 'Yes, ma'am,' he replies. 'Who trained him?' Emily asks a little bit too loud. 'I guess we got company,' Joshua says. 'My sisters did, oh mighty stranger.' Emily rolls her eyes. 'You guys are perfect for each other.' 'Shut up, Emily.' I push her into a book store to keep her occupied and continue talking. 'I'm sorry about that.' 'That's okay. So, are you free tonight?' 'What if I was?' 'Then I might ask you to go to dinner with me.' 'Well, I might say yes to that.' 'Well, good. If you text me your address, I'll pick you up.' 'Are you sure, because after offering that I'm thinking you might not be real again.' 'Hazel, I'm going to treat you like no guy has ever treated you before.' 'Is that a threat?' I asked jokingly. 'That's a promise, sweetheart.'
