Teacher Zhuang helped them book a room at a guesthouse. When they got there, they put their bags in their room and waited until tomorrow for orientation.

Before that, Xie Wanying and her mother couldn’t stand being in such a quiet place, so they wandered around the small shops on school grounds and took the chance to look around the medical school.

The campus was surrounded by greenery, with a gentle cool breeze, and the sound of soaring birds.

When Sun Rongfang first saw it, she was overjoyed and thought that the environment where her daughter would study and live in the future was absolutely beautiful. The only thing she had to be concerned about was whether or not her daughter’s classmates and teachers would get along well with her.

Next morning, the mother and daughter woke up early and ate the capital unique big fritters on the street which was b than anything they’d ever seen before.

After they had finished eating, they dashed to school with everything they needed. Today’s campus was not the same as yesterday’s. Registration for new students had begun in the auditorium.

Still, because there were so many new students every year, there wasn’t much space for them and their families.

The whole auditorium was now as busy as a market.

After rebirth, Xie Wanying was familiar with the university enrollment process and led her mother to the registration booth of her major department.

The mother and daughter made their way to the registration booth at the end of the long line. There was a long line for other departments, but no one was in front of this booth.

Sun Rongfang asked her daughter,

“Are we in the right booth?”

“Should be right.”

Xie Wanying paid close attention to the red signboard that had been put on the stage and on which was written the Guoxie 8th year – medical program registration

“Why isn’t there a line of people here?”

Sun Rongfang turned to look left and right; there were clearly people on the right hand side, but no one here, as if cursed.

Xie Wanying could only wait.. Then, a male teacher with glasses and half-grey hair rushed over. He was about fifty years old.

Sun Rongfang then went closer to her daughter’s ear and whispered.

“How can we know whether we’re not wrong?  Look at the side. The other people that entertain the students are all young, but why is this one so old?”

They didn’t expect the “old” teacher to hear this, which made the person laugh out loud, ” I’m sorry, your senior brother in the eighth year class is very busy and can’t come to entertain you.

Your senior brothers and sisters are all over there greeting new students. Your class counselor will have to wait until the first day of class, so I, the school’s chief of academic affairs, shall entertain you for the time being.”

“The dean of the Academic Affairs Office?” Sun Rongfang blinked.

“Yes. My surname is Jiang.”  ‘old’ male teacher took out his work badge and showed it to them.

“It’s okay. It’s okay.”

“Hello, Teacher Jiang.” Xie Wanying stood up to the front and bowed to the teacher with a stoop.

Dean Jiang was taken aback. He rushed to assist her in getting up without delay. “Don’t be formal.”

Then, Dean Jiang, who sat down once again, was evidently somewhat shy due to Xie Wanying and her mother’s politeness. He covered his mouth and coughed slightly before saying, “I know you.”

“Do you know who we are?” Sun Rongfang asked in surprise.

“You are student Xie Wanying, right?” Director Jiang pointed his pen in the direction of Xie Wanying.

“You know the name of my daughter?” Sun Rongfang was even more puzzled, as she had definitely never met this person.

“Of course I know, it’s the Science champion.”

Dean Jiang winked playfully at the mother and daughter.

Sun Rongfang couldn’t help but laugh twice. She turned to her daughter to give her a hint.

This teacher was so good that he could tell jokes.
