Is it love? (Kaveh x Alhaitham)

Chapter 1: It's complicated

It was just like any other day in Sumeru.Kaveh woke up early,getting ready to work on his newest project.He was a successful architect and worked hard every day.Not everyone knew a little secret of his,which was living with Akademiya's Scribe,Alhaitham.He was always embarrassed of that fact,and almost no one knew about that.Kaveh works hard to earn his own mora,so he can move out and finally live oh his own.

He got up from his bed,getting ready to start the day.He was brushing his hair,braiding it the same way he always does.Kaveh makes his way to the living room,where Alhaitham was sitting on the couch,reading his book like usual.
"good morning." Alhaitham said with a neutral look on his face,still reading the book,not bothering to look up at Kaveh.

"morning.." Kaveh responded with a positive tone.He made his way to the kitchen to get himself some coffee.

He came back to the living room,sitting on the couch opposite of Alhaitham.They remained silent for a minute,as Kaveh decided to break the silence.

"You're not at the Akademiya today?" he asked,taking a sip of his coffee.

"Obviously.I have no business left there,so I took the day off." Alhaitham responded,still reading the book.

"Ah...well seems like you will be pretty busy reading your books all day,won't you?" Kaveh said with a bit of scoffing.

"At least I don't have to worry about the deadlines creeping up and finishing the projects on time." Alhaitham said,mocking him.

Kaveh rolled his eyes,as he expected the mocking from Alhaitham he usually gets.

"Well,whatever.I always finish them on time anyway." Kaveh replied with a little proud smile on his face.

"Yet getting dozed off,waisting every opportunity to finish projects eariler." Alhaitham scoffed again.
Kaveh looked at him,furrowing his eyebrows as he got up from the couch.

"Hmph.It's not like you care anyway,so why does it matter?"
He added,turning his back to Alhaitham and making his way into his room.

"I don't,I am just saying you would have more time for yourself since you always complain about deadlines and work."
Alhaitham responded in a neutral tone,again,not raising his head which was burried in the book,as he turned the page.

"I still don't know what does that have to do with you." Kaveh said,with a slight smile on his face,as he closed the door of his room.

He sighed.Alhaitham and him cannot start the day without argument or mocking.It has always been that way.He got used on Alhaitham's temperament,so he could not piss him off so easily,but could definetely make him furrow his eyebrows.

Kaveh was in his room for half a day,coming out only to get a glass of water,or something to eat.Him and Alhaitham did not spoke since the morning,but he could not ignore his presence whenever he leaves his room.

"You're still reading that book?"
Kaveh asked,approaching Alhaitham from the back,who was sitting on a couch of the living room.

"You're still working on your project?" Alhaitham responded,mockingly.

"Yes,I am actually working on something,not just sitting around in the same place the whole day." Kaveh told him,crossing his hands.

"That is ironic of you to say since you are doing exactly the same." Alhaitham said,with a mocking smirk on his face.

"W-Well I'm working on something big,I don't just read some books!" Kaveh said,turning his head as he scoffed.
"Hm.Good for you then." Alhaitham said,looking up at Kaveh for a moment, as he looked at his book again.
Kaveh sighed. "What's so interesting about that book anyway?" He said,sitting next to Alhaitham,looking at the book.

Alhaitham looked at him with a side eye.He did not bother to respond,as he remained silent,reading his book.

"What,silent treatment?" Kaveh rolled his eyes. "Just tell me,it's not like I will steal it or anyway." he added,crossing his arms,looking at Alhaitham.

Alhaitham just sighed."It is about Tevyat and it's mysteries."
He said,not looking at Kaveh.

"It must be interesting considering you have been reading for a half of the day already."
Kaveh said,looking at the book.

He nodded in response. "Don't you have a work to do?" Alhaitham asked him, raising one eyebrow.
"Just some finishing touches."
Kaveh said,streching on the couch,as he got up.

"Oh right...I'll be moving out soon."
Kaveh said with a little smile on his face, looking at Alhaitham.

As soon as he heard those words,he looked up at Kaveh in a surprise.
"Oh Is that so?"
Alhaitham asked,doubtfully.

"Yeah." he sighed. Is it that hard for you to believe?" Kaveh facepalmed.
"In about a month,I will be moving into the house from Akademiya's student.I got a job offer from them. They need help in building a apartment of their own,and they offered me a place to stay while working. Isn't that great?" He asked Alhaitham,with a broad smile.

Alhaitham's face did not look quite happy,as he stuttered a little.
"So when you get done with it,where will you stay? On a street?" Alhaitham scoffed.

"Obviously not. They payed a big amount of mora,which is enough for me to make my own house.I will have to work hard though but it should not be hard,I already have everything ready." Kaveh responded,smiling with his eyes closed.He was happy that he won't need to feel embarassed anymore because of living with Alhaitham.

Alhaitham stayed silent,looking at the floor. "So you're leaving..next month?" He said,looking up at him with a visible disbelief on his face.

Kaveh nodded. "Hm yes, maybe month and a half, depends on them." "Isn't that great? We won't be roomates anymore,you will have all this house for yourself!" Kaveh said,laughing a little.

He noticed that Alhaitham was not that Happy about his choice.
"Okay. Have fun." Alhaitham said,looking at the floor.

"What's wrong? Still in disbelief?"
Kaveh looks at him as he said that,and a worried look on his face appears.

Alhaitham got up from his couch walking to the room of his. "It's late. You should go to bed too." Alhaitham said,walking off.

"Wait a minute,you can't just leave like that!"
Kaveh said,dismayed by Alhaitham's action.Alhaitham shut his door,as Kaveh made his way to them. Kaveh knocked multiple times.
"Alhaitham? Hello? What is wrong with you?" Kaveh said, loudly.

Alhaitham was lying down on his bed, trying to fall asleep as he was thinking about what Kaveh said. He was happy that he would have the peace and quiet again for himself, and he couldn't wait for it. But something seemed to bother him a lot.*Hm...good for him.* ,he thought.

"Alhaitham..open the door! You can't just leave like that! I thought it would be good news for you,are they not?" Kaveh yelled from the other side of the door.Soon he gave up trying,as he sighed. "Fine,I will leave",he said,"it is not like you ever listened to me..." Kaveh mumbled,as he made his way into his room.

Both of them were laying on their beds,unable to fall asleep.Kaveh because he didn't know what did he do wrong, and Alhaitham because he could not figure out what is happening to him and his feelings.
