Chapter Seven"It seems that Captain Durchenwald acted with deliberate malice against the Blue Garden. According to some of the men, the captain showed a special interest in a girl who often visited the flower shop. She—"
Arthur waved his hand as he stopped the boy from speaking any further. He already knew of Durchenwald's means to obliterate that plant shop was done solely for his contentment. That was no news to him—but his actions needed to be testified. Gathering those who have witnessed the obstruction would make getting Durchenwald out of the way easier.
Leaning his weight against the wide wooden surface, Arthur processed the information that was being given to him by the youth he had sent to spy.
He held his arms folded against his chest—nodding his head as he bit down on a thin toothpick.
"Sehr gut, junge," he stated, a heavy sigh escaping from his thin pale lips. "Report back to your group,"
Arthur's gaze seemed focused on the boy, who couldn't have been any older than fifteen.
Children always seemed to become a nuisance for him, they cried, they whined, and they never did anything worth his time. Arthur would have no use for them. Nevertheless, he didn't particularly hate them.
He watched as the boy stood up straight and saluted him with heavy exaggeration. The boy seemed honored to serve him. wishing to be acknowledged by the Nazi elite.
'der Dummkopf,' Arthur thought.
Showing respect to him, a stranger, so blindly—the idea alone had Arthur fuming.
"Aus!"
Wolff yelled, ordering the boy to retreat. The color of the child's face paled, and he quickly retired his stance in the apartment. His thin legs scurried for the door leaving Arthur alone to dwell in his thoughts.
He's to leave for Lodz in the morning.
The leaders have made a drastic decision regarding the aspiring implementation of the Jewish camps.
Kulmhof, they're calling it.
One of the first, much like one of the many that would soon materialize in this country. Arthur was designed to help run its operations. Whilst the Germans prepared for greater conquering, he was to ensure that the obligations were being met and that defiance was being punished.
Of course, there will be many others he had been asked to visit. As a subordinate to his commander, Marshall Hermann. Arthur would accompany the Reichsmarschall through Poland and back to Germany.
Warsaw was a crumbling city. Almost entirely annexed to the Germans. It won't be long before the trains depart and those who are unlikely will join together in their fate.
"Oberstleutnant,"
A voice suddenly addressed.
Directing his attention to the door, Arthur was surprised to see Hauptsturmführer Lenrick Schnee. Captain to his platoon and assault squad within the 8th Army.
Arthur was told that most of his men were sent to the annexed borders. They were assigned to oversee the early train routes entering and out of Poland.
