"I never meant to cause you any sorrow, I never meant to cause you any pain." He said and he meant every word.

He never wanted to break her heart and see her in tears. But he stands in front of her now confessing to his mistakes. That's all it took, just one mistake to cause years of sadness and pain to come. Of course, this was never his intention. But he knew as soon as he did it he regretted it.

"Why'd you do it? How could you go behind my back and lie to me."  She said with tears in her eyes.

He was felt awful. The only woman who truly loved him for who he was had been betrayed. He knew that he would never find another woman like her, someone so nurturing, caring, and understanding of him. She stood by his side through it all. She always provided him with support, made sure to attend every show while he was on tour and attended rehearsals when she could.

She now sat at the foot of the bed with her luggage by her side. She didn't want to leave him, but she knew she had to. She couldn't stand to see the man she loved betray her this way, especially since he promised her he'd never hurt her. She continued to sit there as she waited for his response.

He didn't have one.

Even if he wanted to apologize it would be meaningless to her at this point because the damage was already done. He broke her heart and it was too late to fix it.

"I don't know?" He said looking down feeling ashamed and guilty.

He loved her and it broke his heart knowing he had to see her go. He knew this would be the consequence for his actions and now he will have to live with the regret of letting her go.

She shook her head, growing angrier the more she looked at him. As she got up and rolled her suitcase out the front door and into her car, he followed behind trying to spend every last second he could with her before she left him. She closed the trunk and opened the driver side door. He grabbed her wrist, looking into her chocolate brown eyes. He always loved her eyes, and would get lost in them every time he looked at her. But this time it was different because he knew this would be the last time he'd see her dark brown eyes.

"Don't do this Anya. Please, don't leave."
He said with his eyes still connected to hers.

He was willing to do whatever it took to gain her trust again. He just needed her by his side, he needed her in his life forever.

"You should have thought about that before you went and slept with her. I have to go." She said breaking the eye contact they had and letting go of his hand.

She got in her car and closed the door as she started up the car. He knew there was nothing more he could say to convince her to stay. She made up her mind and he had to accept that. He watched as she drove off. The longer he looked into the distance the smaller the car got, until he couldn't see her anymore.

She was gone.

That was it. He had lost the only woman who had truly loved him. He always knew there was something special about her since the day he met her.

He now stood in the freezing cold of Minneapolis. The weather reflected exactly how he felt inside.

Cold.

He walked to the lake where they used to spend time together. This was the first time in years he sat he alone.
