Henry felt the most incredible sense of calm as he held hands with Katherine.Almost too good to be true.
While Henry was enjoying the warmth of prolonged human contact, Katherine felt herself get colder and colder.
His touch felt... almost artificial.
She felt her hands get colder and colder, while her face heated up a little.
Katherine didn't know why or how she was feeling this way, she only knew that she wasn't totally opposed to this feeling.
The contrasting temperatures of their hands was unsettling at first for both, but slowly melted into calmness.
Henry sighed with his eyes shut, which snapped Katherine out of her daze.
She retracted her hands quickly, losing the feeling.
Henry's eyes snapped open as he lost the warmth too.
He sensed the awkwardness and leaned back to his seat.
Good Lord, that was an intense two and a half minutes.
I don't know how to feel about this.
I mean, on the one hand, it's completely inappropriate, he's quite literally a test subject.
But then again...
Yeah no, I can't justify this with a reason.
I quietly took a seat in front of him, waiting for the noise to die down outside.
I fiddled with my hands as silence took over yet again.
"That sandwich was really good" he spoke feebly.
"I know right?" I said while laughing.
"It feels like forever since I had good food" he sighed.
My smile faltered a little, as my heart hurt for him.
The soda.
I quickly took out the can of Tab I had in my bag and held it in front of him.
He looked at it and looked at me, unsure of what to do.
"Wanna try a soda?" I asked cheerfully.
He looked skeptical as he peered at the red can in my hand.
"Never tried one of these before" he said with a small chuckle.
"Really? Never?" I asked in disbelief.
He nodded a yes.
"I was brought here when I was about nine years old, and before that my mother never let me have sodas, or candy or any of those snacks. She believed they were made to kill you" he chuckled as he spoke.
His smile fell as he thought of his mother.
"You okay?" I asked after a while.
He snapped out of it and brushed it off immediately, nodding yes.
I handed him the can, waiting for him to try it.
He looked at the can like he was an alien, trying to figure out what to do with it.
He fiddled with the opener a couple of times.
I silently observed, amused at his cluelessness.
"Okay I'm not sure how to do this" he finally said, giving up.
"I knew that" I chuckled and took the can from him.
I snapped the can open and the beverage fizzed and floated out the opening.
