Hg:
Today is September 1st! Harry, Ron, and Ginny are all waiting in a compartment for me. Since I'm head girl, I have to patrol the train for the first few and last few minutes. After 10 minutes of patrolling, I decided to go to the Heads and Prefects compartment. I'm not sure who the Head Boy is but I know it's not anyone in Gryffindor. As I open the door, all I see is black robes and green: Slytherin.
"Granger, Potter and Weasel aren't here... this is the head compartment, they aren't good enough." Malfoy sneered at me, Blaise Zabini and Theodore Nott on either side of him. He must have ditched Goyle after Crabbe died.
"Thank you Malfoy, for stating the obvious. I however, did not come here to find my friends, I am head girl and this is the head and prefect compartment, so none of you should be here."
"Actually, we should. I am head boy, and they are my friends, and Zabini is a prefect." He nodded to the boy on his left.
I nodded, turned around and left. I ran back to my compartment and got inside.
"Malfoy is head boy" I gasped, slightly out of breath.
Ron's head popped up from where it had been, leaning against the window. Harry looked shocked and turned toward me and Ginny, whose feet had been stretched across Harry, sat properly and looked surprised.
Then they all spoke at the same time, "What?!" from Ginny "Malfoy!" from Harry and "Has McGonagall gone insane!? He's going to murder you! He's a death eater! And almost killed Dumbledore!" from Ron.
I nodded and shook my head at the same time, sitting down next to Ron. As I sat down, he stood up. "I'm going to see Lavender, she's somewhere here with the Patil twins." He said, closing the door behind him.
I sat awkwardly reading my book as Harry and Ginny giggled with an excessive amount of PDA. I looked up at one point and saw Ginny's head buried in his neck and Harry noticed me.
Sorry, he mouthed, not looking sorry at all. I ignored him and buried myself in my book. Ron came back a while later with Lavender, but we were almost there so I left to patrol the halls again. I also didn't want to be in the same room as Harry and Ginny any longer. Or in the same room as Ron for longer than I had to. Even though the breakup was for the best, it still bothered me slightly how he had moved on so quickly to Lavender and I was now the awkward third wheel. If Harry was there, Ginny was too. If she wasn't, Lavender would be. Sometimes, they both were and I would just sit there as the two couples kissed and giggled.
Either way, I wandered through the corridor, looking for Malfoy. I don't like him, but have to cooperate if I want to stay Head Girl. I found him sitting alone in the head compartment, looking out the window, and joined him.
"What're you doing here?" He asked me quietly.
"Well, we're almost there and we have to patrol soon. And I didn't want to be in the same room as Harry and Ginny and Ron and Lavender any longer..." I added quickly.
He just nodded and we got up to patrol. Once we reached, I helped the first years over to Hagrid while he shoveled everyone else toward the carriages.
Then we went inside and sat down to watch the sorting.

DmAfter the sorting was finished, McGonagall stood up to speak.
"Hello everyone. I would like to start by saying how lovely it is to see so many of you return, especially those in their 8th year. As I'm sure many of you have heard, the Ministry has established a new law of sorts. This law is a class that 7th and 8th years will take throughout this year. For this class, you will be paired up with someone of the opposite gender. Your task is to get married and well, make a kid. All of you must participate or you will be expelled, by order of the Ministry. Your pairings will be owled to you by tomorrow. Once you receive your partner, you will move into a shared dorm with them and will start your new life together. We may start the feast now." She said, looking at the oldest kids in slight pity.
All over the great hall, people were expressing their displeasure. I agreed with them wholeheartedly.
Why would the Ministry force us to get married and have kids with someone we don't know! Or what if we do know them, if I get a Gryffindor, I'm choosing to get expelled. I better get Pansy, Astoria, or any other Slytherin!
Soon enough, the feast was over and everyone returned to the common room. The 7th and 8th years dorms, I noticed, were simple. They just had beds, since we wouldn't be staying in there for long. This year, it was just me, Theo, and Blaise in the dorm since Crabbe had died and Goyle hadn't returned.
I drifted off to sleep, but woke up with a jolt as Blaise shook me awake the next morning.
"WAKE UP MALFOY!!! THE OWLS CAME!!!" He was practically squealing with excitement. I sat up slowly and had a letter thrust into my hands. I looked around and saw Theo sitting up in his bed, also half asleep and holding a letter.
Blaise said we would open them together. So we took the letter out of the envelope and opened it as he counted to three.
I read it carefully, wanting to understand everything.
Dear Mr. Malfoy,
You are a 8th year in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, meaning you will participate in the Parenthood Class. Today at noon, you must go to your new dorm to meet your partner. Then, you will begin the journey of your life. Below is your partners name, birthdate, house, and other information you need to know:
At the bottom of the letter was a name. A Gryffindor.
