It wasn't long after the spell was done that we felt its effects and had to rest, our energy drained because of the moon's power, the cold stealing our warmth away and the journey taking its toll on our bodies and souls. The night had this eerie feel to it, the wind was howling all night but in a way, it felt like there was also no sound at all, or maybe that the sound of wind, was distant or made up, like Pyr and I were trapped in a chamber void of real elements and energy.

For a moment I thought someone trapped us with a peculiar spell but then I started recalling the times I used the spell, before this situation, and to my surprise it always had that kind of effect on me, but granted, it never was this prominent.

I don't think Pyr noticed it too much, I have a feeling he was tired enough he never changed positions while he slept, let alone ponder on the temperature changes. He is not to be blamed, we were both exhausted and he wasted a lot of his power on his eagerness to persuade me that he was nothing like Wheat.

Oh how I would love to tease him about that, he was set on letting me know their differences if I gave him the chance, but every time the discussion fell on Wheat's name, his whole aura changed. To a certain extent, I was aware of the gripe he had with that man, and even though to me it was harmless and funny, to him it was a matter of pride. So I left this argument behind and tried to adjust to the few items of clothing I had used to create a makeshift bed for myself.

"Strange... It can't be morning yet..."

I exclaimed softly as I was getting up.

Indeed, it was strange, the morning had come too soon, maybe when you're this close to the top of the wintery mountains you can experience sunrise firsthand. Usually, the sun would grace the windows of my room at a later time. I don't remember to have seen this before so it was natural for me to want to get up and leave the cave so I can take a small peek before Pyr was awake.

The spell we cast last night was at its last breath of energy so I had to be aware of myself and try my best to step outside without any fuss or sound. Who knew what animals or creatures I would stumble upon now that the spell was withering away? I had to be as quiet as possible but I almost screamed at the picture in front of me the moment I set foot outside the cave.

What my eyes caught a glimpse of was the most beautiful sun rays laying on the top of the mountains, as if they gave the snow tiny kisses, it was outstanding to behold. I knew magic down to the last detail, yes I was a student, but my surroundings were always magical and otherworldly, my father made sure to show me everything magic could obtain but this spectacle of nature, I was so far away removed from.

"Sun rays... Wish I could keep them in a tiny bottle, and have them with me always."

"I bet you can, you're a witch after all!"

I turned my head, slowly as if I was greeting an old friend despite knowing the voice belong to my new acquaintance, Pyr. His skin was glistening under the sun and I felt a bit jealous, I always looked like a snow splotch, the only thing that distinguished me from a white paper was my tiny red freckles. I wish I had a skin like him, I couldn't get this thought out of my head as I was looking at him coming towards me.

"You left me to freeze in the cave to see the sun's rays? You should have said something, Cassi!"

He said jokingly.

"I left you to freeze so I can absorb all of their power and turn you into a frog, Pyr!"

"Oh! We got jokes?! I am impressed but I asked you before to turn me into something more practical, like a -"

"A bird, yes I KNOW. But I will never give you the ability to fly. You deserve to walk like me and with me!"

Occasionally I enjoyed a bander and at this moment he looked like he fancied the jokes I made about him. He came closer and sat next to me, he looked at my red wavy hair and he asked for permission to touch it without saying a word. I was taken aback but I nodded without knowing why. My mind was empty and my body was warm from the sun. How could I be feeling this warm when we were so high up in the mountains?
