Lia Tan Xin Li

Lia Tan Xin Li (Lia Tan-Leong Xin Li in book 5) is one of the five main characters in Amaze. She is a Singapore-born Chinese dancer who is Crystal's co-worker and close friend.

Appearance
It is shown that Lia's hair was naturally black but after learning she was accepted into polytechnic, she had dyed it yellow as it was a lifelong dream. She usually ties it up in a bun, referencing her Love for ballet. Her hair is in reality, longer than her shoulders.

Her style is the most feminine among the three female members as she usually wears dresses and skirts casually. The only reason why she usually wears pants for filming is actually "because the script said so."
Background
Performing-wise: Lia grew up with the transitioning cast of Hi-5, which means Series 9 and 10 of said series. She was inspired by Charli's constant flexibility and wanted to be as good as a dancer as her. This inspired her to take dance lessons, but she started off with ballet and went on to different genres later on.

Initially, Lia was just content taking ballet classes weekly and a little more until she was just 10 years old. That was when the producer of Merlion Agency came to her dance school and started talking to her dance teacher. She eventually understood why — she was about to get scouted into Merlion Agency as a dancer.

Hesitant, Lia gives the producer her home address and asks her to go to her house to have a chat with her parents about the matter since the next day, she doesn't have school. The producer goes to her house the next day indeed and talk to her parents. Since Lia's grades made the cut (in her parents' view), they allowed her to join as long as her grades didn't slip.
Personal life: Nothing much is known other than she was a shy girl that didn't have many friends in school. It is also confirmed Lia only studied Media Arts because "everyone else was doing it."
Personality
Lia is a shy and gentle girl that thinks about others more than herself. She always helps others, even if she knows it'll cost herself. She doesn't have much confidence in herself and makes decisions based on influence rather than she actually wants it. This is obvious when she chose her tertiary institution, as she followed her class rather than her own heart.

Lia is meticulous and hardworking, seen in how she learnt her lines. She is also mature, seen in how she advised Crystal on dealing with Mike in a more docile manner.

Eventually, as Amaze went on, Lia learnt to develop her own sense of identity and have her backbone. At the end of it all, she is finally able to make decisions based on her own heart and not acting on influence as much as she used to.
Abilities
Dancing ability: Lia is a talented dancer that is good at all genres of dance. She is good enough to be sent for competitions and performances left, right and center. As for competitions, there is hardly a competition she didn't get at least a consolation prize. The extent of her experience and talent would lead to be Crystal's mentor, who needs more time to learn her moves.

Sewing ability: A student from a girls' school, Lia was taught sewing. She continues sewing until the present day, where she can fix spoilt clothes' faults and even stitches her own clothes and bags.

Gaming ability: Lia is shown to be quite the gamer. Ever since her older brother introduced her to video games in an attempt to make her try something new, Lia has shown interest in gaming ever since. Although she doesn't play games often, she is pretty talented at "Legendary Shooter 4". She is also decent at roleplay and dress-up games.
